    • Sunday Snapshot

Dear Sunday Snapshot, it’s time for a change

My first Sunday Snapshot was posted almost 2 and a 1/2 years ago.

It’s hard for me to believe it’s been that long.

But it has. 125 Sundays, in fact. And 125 Snapshot posts later, not a whole lot has changed about Sunday Snapshot.

Including my ability with a camera.

The time has come for that to change. And so must my Sunday Snapshot.

Starting in April – which is tomorrow, y’all – Sunday Snapshot is gonna be different.

It’s time to focus on improving my skills with a camera… stretching and growing my abilities. And, therefore, stretching you too, dear reader.

The truth is, I’m needing a nudge to get me out of my ‘normal’ and to try some new things.

And I suspect that some of y’all are, too.

So are we ready?

From now on, the rules will be different. Sunday Snapshot will be a contest of sorts. The Sunday Snapshot linky will go up as usual every Sunday (or Saturday night) and will close on Tuesday morning. You can still utilize you Sunday Snapshot posts to capture that special someone or something, but the goal of Sunday Snapshot will be to learn and try new things with our cameras.

So I’ll be visiting all the linked posts each week.

And on Wednesday, I’ll announce my favorite photo from all the Snapshots linked. The selection will be based on photos only, not the text, so feel free to write as much, or as little, as you like.

You can post as many photos in your linked post as you like, but I’ll consider only the FIRST photo in your post. So be sure you post your favorite photo AT THE TOP.

And, since our intent is to grow our skills with a camera, I ask that y’all post only your recent or new photos.

I will be choosing a favorite Snapshot based on:

1. composition
2. color
3. emotion
4. creativity
and
5. post-processing.

And P.S. I’m no pro, y’all. So don’t be shy to enter. The goal of this is to learn, encourage each other and have fun.

The weekly winners will then be posted in a once-a-month Sunday Snapshot post. And the winner will be selected by you, the readers. That’s right, y’all get to choose your favorite out of the 4 or 5 weekly winners.

And it gets better.

The winner of the monthly Sunday Snapshot will actually win something.

I’ll scout around for photography-based goodies and see who might like to join in as future sponsors for our Sunday Snapshot fun. And I am thrilled to announce our very first sponsor.

She’s the first person I thought of when I decided to change up my Sunday Snapshot… Jessica Paige from One Willow Presets. She has graciously agreed to be the Sunday Snapshot sponsor for April. And has generously donated a $50 gift certificate to be given away to April’s winner.

And, to go with the all new Sunday Snapshot, an all new Sunday Snapshot button.

Ni Hao Yall

So, to wrap this up, since I’m slightly confused myself, here are all the changes in a nutshell.

– Sunday Snapshot will begin each Sunday (or Saturday night) and the linky will close Tuesday AM.
– It is open to anyone who wants to play along.
– Each Snapshot entry will be judged by yours truly, who will then select a favorite photo to be announced on Wednesdays.
– Snapshot posts should have the photo to be judged AT THE TOP of your Sunday Snapshot post, and should include the Sunday Snapshot button as well as a link back here to encourage others to play along.
– Weekly winners will be featured in a monthly Sunday Snapshot post which will be judged by y’all, the readers.
– The winner of the monthly Sunday Snapshot will receive a photography related goodie donated by the Sunday Snapshot monthly sponsor. April’s sponsor is One Willow Presets.

P.S. If you have a photography related business, and would like to be a future Sunday Snapshot sponsor, let me know. You’ll be featured at the top of my sidebar for the entirety of the month, and be included in the monthly Sunday Snapshot post.

See y’all tomorrow!

GREAT idea Stef. I do think your photography has improved though! I need to work on mine. When I was working on
it, I improved but now I am too busy with other things. I look forward to participating as I can.

What fun, too bad I am not the photographer in this house. Maybe I will still participate once in a while or get my husband to participate. I look forward to seeing all the entries!
