the hoop

I love it when God smiles on me. I love it even more when He smiles on my kiddos.

And on Sunday, He did just that.

Dalton has been wanting a basketball hoop since… well, forever. And time has only caused it to intensify. He has a basketball – or the nerf version of a basketball – in his hands every waking, non-school moment. His tiny nerf hoop finally disintegrated from overuse.

For months he has been saving his money diligently.

And looking on Cr@igslist – daily – for something he could afford.

Problem is, we don’t really have a spot for a basketball hoop. The driveway is gravel and there isn’t a level spot big enough for a makeshift court.

It was a conundrum.

Until yesterday. We were driving home from church and noticed a thrift shop. And, because it was Sunday, and because I love thrift stores, we stopped.

There wasn’t much there for the rest of the family, but somehow that didn’t really matter.

Because they had this. Brand new and still in the box.

Dalton had enough, more than enough, to buy it.

And his room, after some minor furniture rearrangements, had enough room to house it.

Let’s just say, he’s pretty much had this expression on his face ever since then.

Take delight in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.
~ Psalm 37:4

I love it when God smiles on us and gives us the desires of our heart! We were just reading that scripture today.

Awww!!!! That is soooo awesome! And I love to see people teach their children the value of money by making them save up for things. He’ll appreciate it so much more knowing that he paid for it with his own money!

    Hey chick!

Let me know if you want one for outside. Logan is 19 and has no interest in it anymore – its still in very good shape also. Since I dont’ live but an hour away I’d be more than happy to give it to your boys! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Hugs,
    Carla
