    • Sunday Snapshot

a birthday and a mustache.

This was supposed to be a Sunday Snapshot. In which case it would be a few days late. Or several days early, depending on how you look at it.

Either way, it’s a good one. Because my baby, my last baby-by-birth, just turned 12.

And that crazy business calls for a party…

and a cake…

and lots and lots of merriment.

The party part was easy. To be honest, any time a group our size gets together for a meal under joyful circumstances it could be considered a party.

The cake was easy too, thanks to my multi-talented daughter. She actually made the cake and a bunch of teeny-tiny, monogrammed, filled-with-frosting cupcakes that were to. die. for.

And the merriment was easy because our kids are already pretty good at having fun. Being loud. Laughing a lot.

But then Dalton was gifted with a fake mustache.

And when he put it on? Oh my. His face.

(Can you see all that adorable blushing going on?)

He laughed. We all laughed.

I am not sure how a tiny piece of sticky fuzz can be so hilarious but oh-my-word, it was.

Then he passed it around the table and we all laughed and giggled and held our sides because our abs never see that much action.

Despite overwhelming odds, I managed to hang onto my camera. And got at least one picture of every person at the table wearing the aforementioned mustache. Including the dog.

But that’s another post for another day.

Happy Birthday, D. We sure do love you.

    Hi Stephanie,

I have been reading your blog for quite some time now. My husband and I are about to fill out our paperwork to adopt and would love to chat with someone as experienced as you are. I was wondering if I could email you? Or if you would be willing to talk on the phone?

    Thank you for your consideration!

    Ellie
