Been thinking a lot about adoption lately.
April marked 2 years home with Tallula.
May was the month we traveled to China for Sophie in 2006 and Isabelle in 2005. It’s also the month Esther passed away in 2011.
And June will mark 10 years since the Lord opened our eyes to caring for the orphan. 10 years, y’all.
(Excuse me while I take a moment to feel very, very old.)
June was also the month we traveled to China for Jude in 2008 and Shepherd in 2009.
Yep. Adoption has been on my mind for so many reasons.
Usually, when I look at pictures of my kids, they’re just my kids. All of ’em – white, Chinese, boy, girl, 24 or 4 – they’re just my kids.
But today, when I looked at these pictures, I saw more than Sophie and Lula. I saw my biggest baby from China. And my littlest.
Both beloved daughters. Brought home by a sovereign God.
My biggest is the classic older child. Responsible, practical, wise-beyond-her-years. Sophie loves to be large and in charge.
While my littlest is the classic baby. Winsome, unreserved, theatrical. Tallula loves to add a little drama anywhere she can.
And she just loves being the baby.
Oh little love, enjoy it while you can.

“Enjoy it while you can.” Please, please, please let that be alluding to another child about to bless your family! With love from Wales,

How oh how do you balance it all? I only have 4 – 1 adopted – and I’d so love to do it again. But I feel so extremely stretched between the 4 as it is. What is the secret??

You made me cry when you said “brought home by a Sovereign God”. It made me stand in awe, He is Sovereign and He is GOOD!! Beautiful words.
