Poet’s Last Day

Letting go is hard to do.

But sometimes it’s for the best.

I got this guy when he was just a long yearling – full of vim and vigor. I had big plans for him.

But things didn’t turn out like I’d planned.

And really? That’s okay.

Because bringing our little ones home from China and homeschooling and running No Hands But Ours are things I am forever thankful that the Lord has called me to.

So I decided I wanted to give him a chance to become all the things to another someone.

A little boy or girl…

I contacted his breeder (who runs one of the best pony farms in the country) and, amazingly, she was thrilled at the chance to buy him back.

And, as much as it grieves me to say, I think California suits him.

He’s always looked like a beach boy to me.

So long, Poet. You will surely be missed.

Now go make some lucky little kid’s dreams come true.
