a mama’s gotta do…

School’s out. Which means I have all of my babies, from the littlest to the biggest, home.

As must as I wish it were otherwise, this is rare. Due to Zach’s college schedule, sometimes this phenomenon only occurs twice a year.

Which leaves a mama with only one thing to do.

Insist on taking pictures.

Lots and lots of pictures.

Thankfully, I knew a place we could go where the kids can actually have fun in the process. Even better, it’s free.

And we picked a day that had a questionable forecast, in order to miss the crowds, and arrived just as the rain came.

No worries, though. We had a pretty solid roof overhead.

And not having anywhere else to go kinda worked in my favor.

Because taking pictures of this group? Is a lee-tle bit time consuming.

By the time the rain stopped we were ready to move on to one of my very favorite picture-taking spots ever.

Same spot I took pictures about a year ago.

Oh my. These faces.

All together.

Makes me so happy.

By the time we were ready to move out into the open, the rain had stopped.

But we were kinda-sorta tired of taking pictures.

So instead of trying to smile, we made some half-hearted silly faces, or stared off into the distance, dreaming of doing anything other than family pictures.

Most likely dreaming of the Sonic corn dogs and slushies I might have used as an *ahem* encouragement to smile for the camera.

When I told the kids it was time to go, then they decided they actually wanted to play a little longer.

I didn’t mind a bit.

Love, love, love these babies of mine.
