Isabelle was sick a few weeks ago. Since Isabelle is rarely sick, neither of us knew quite what to do with ourselves, stuck in the house with not much to do. She spent quite a few hours comforted by the cool of the leather couch, contentedly watching another episode of “Calliou” on PBS.
Much to my vexation.
That’s how I feel about Calliou. Vexation. What I actually allow my kids to watch on TV is a fairly accurate indicator of how desperate I am sick they are. Usually I can’t tolerate those ridiculously annoying shows, Calliou is a good example. Yo Gabba Gabba is another, but that’s a whole ‘nother story. But due to the emergent situation, Calliou it was. She was happy, I was happy. Relatively speaking.
I went in to check on her, as I had done numerous times that day, and I stopped. And looked. I was taken aback at her beauty. And had to run for the camera this time…. I didn’t want to trust my memory to recall each and every intricacy of her exquisite face. The brilliance of her jet black hair, such a far cry from the bristly brown ‘do of almost 4 years ago. Her smile, her flawless ivory skin, the curvature of her Lilliputian nose.
She takes my breath away. She did then and she does now. Even when she smells like vomit.
Julia says
ROFL at the vomit reference, but love these pics of your baby. I’m trying to recall Calliou from my kids younger days, is that the little bald boy that whines constantly?
Stefanie says
Exactly, Julia! He whines all the time… like my kids need whining MODELED for them by a TV character 😉
a Tonggu Momma says
Canuck K calls Calliou Callyuck. Because he is a whiny one, isn’t he?
Tish says
she is beautiful!!!!! hope she is feeling better!
shelley says
what IS the deal with Yo gabba gabba? Dumbest kid show ever.
Sherri says
She is a doll.
I’ve never seen Calliou, but Yo Gabba Gabba gets on my very last nerve. Plus that one character looks like…….well, I don’t want to say on a family blog……
Mandi says
She is just gorgeous. For someone that was sick, she sure has a beautiful smile.
Oh, and I am SO not a fan of Yo Gabba Gabba. What is it with that show???
Ohilda says
She is beautiful indeed!!!
Michelle says
She is a beauty!! And of course, I had a big laugh at your vomit reference.
BTW, there is a “parents against Calliou” group or something like that on Facebook. A friend of mine joined. She passionately dislikes Calliou.
Jen says
I agree with you on Calliou AND how beautiful Isabelle is. My husband actually likes Yo Gabba Gabba. Especially the most recent one with Jack Black. About the only kid show I can tolerate is Imagination Movers on Disney. It helps that I have a crush on Rich.

Kiara does watch Calliou…until I realized she started sounding a bit too much like him! lol! Not havin' that!! lol!
Andrea says
OH Calliou..We had to JUST SAY NO!
He is just a really bad kid and Rachel seems to think he is cool…so…there ya go..
Yo GABBA GABBA just freaks me out.

What a beautiful smile for someone who’s sick…..Don’t we all wish to look that great when we are down?
Calliou has got to be the whiniest kid ever….we have very limited cable, so if it’s not on PBS, or a library check out, we don’t watch it. From the comments, glad we’ve never found Yo Gabba Gabba.

I think yur babygirl is so beautiful. I had a similar experience with our baby, she is 16 now. Last night I was in my office closet and she came to the door and as she said Mom, I turned around and at that very moment she was just exquisitely beautiful to me, and I just had to let her know. I think she is breathtking all the time but there was something different in her face last night, so I know exactly how you felt.
Love, Kristy

I can’t STAND Caillou. He’s horrible!!
Amazing how beautiful Isabelle is even when she’s sick!!
Wendy says
She is beautiful! I never look like that when I’m well, let alone when I’m sick. I pray that this DOES NOT spread to all members of your family (like it did with us…and then some of us got it again 2 weeks later…yuck!).
Stay well!
Kim says
She is beautiful!
I’m with ya on Calliou and Yo Gabba Gabba. Those two shows make me want to jump off a bridge 🙂
Who comes up with them? More so, why do kids love them?
Jana says
Caillou — We call him Cry-You in our house and he is forbidden. I’ve never met a whinier kid!!
Isabelle is a beauty — sick or not.
