monday? full moon? or just me?

Dude. I had so many big plans for today.

None of them were realized. It was a regular Monday gone bad. And Mondays aren’t usually my best day anyway.

And the big cherry on the top? Chris is working verrrry late. So no break, no respite in sight. It’s all me today, baby. And that just ain’t pretty.

I won’t bore you with all the details, but I will share a few of the days highlights:

I went to visit my new dentist, assuming I’d be able to cross “teeth cleaning” off my to-do list. Keep in mind, this requires fine tuning my schedule with my husband’s, so he can wrangle the littles. Evidently they don’t like patients to visit with four kids in tow.

Instead of getting anything actually accomplished, I was informed I needed to make two new appointments. And the dentist used the words “root canal” more than once.

Isabelle got in trouble at school today. I’m told by her teacher that she was trying to put her paper behind the heating system, and refused to listen when told several times to stop. When I explained that doing that is dangerous and might cause a fire, she said, “Oh.”

Dinner never seemed to materialize. Since it gets dark at approximately 3:45 around here as of late, I’m all out of whack. Once 5:00 hits, it feels like bedtime to me. I did manage a pot of Ramen. Dalton’s dinner consisted raw carrots and ranch. Asher managed two cheese sandwiches, that he made himself.

My chores didn’t even get done. The kitchen table is currently covered with partially folded laundry. The counters are covered with a mixture of clean and dirty dishes, all needing to be put somewhere. And me? I’m in here, not tackling any of it.

I even hoped to get the new Christmas shopping list updated and posted. You know, this one? You guys have added so many great ideas… it’s going to take me a while to get all those links included and organized.

But I will.

Tomorrow certainly has to be a better day.

As a wise friend quoted to me a few weeks ago (after I visited the dentist), "Tomorrow is a new day, with no mistakes in it." I do realize that was actually Marilla Cuthbert that said that but it's still good advice. And as for the mistakes, I'm referring to the dentist, not you. πŸ˜‰

I hope that my issue with the shirt didn't add to your craziness…it is in the dryer now!

Oh Stefanie – we all have days like that…and me…well I have them more than you might think(and I only have two little ones). Mondays are terrible for me…T-E-R-R-I-B-L-E! I hated (I know strong word but needs to be used here) Mondays when I was working and I still don't like them even though I do not go out into the work force every day…so again…I know how this all could happen…and it has before – many – many – times with me in the past…

Now that I read your post, I too have to go to the dentist (I mean find one here in DC). I am over due and I can't let that happen…

One bright spot of my Monday (yesterday) I can share with you…I FINALLY broke down & purchased myself a Canon Rebel and it arrived at my home around 6PM last night. Just getting that new baby of mine made my Monday a whole lot better…

    Here's to a better Tuesday!

Oh, my sweet friend…you so eloquently (and humorously) put to words how most of my days seem to be. Sigh. Since God gives us grace only for the things He wants us to do…I've concluded that putting laundry away (among other things) in a timely manner is apparently not in His plan for me. I now see the stacks of folded clothes as a barrier protecting my furniture from dust…thus saving me from the task of removal of said particles.

    God is good.

Awww…does my little heart good to hear that other moms have their off days too. Mine seem to outnumber my productive ones lately. Better luck today!

I sure hope today is better! Those days do come along every now and then. As my mom says, "just grin and nod" and go on!

    Love you!

What? Your children can't eat clean laundry for dinner? Harrumph. SOME people are SO demanding.

I had that same kind of day! I ran around and around with kids all day, got home late from Hannah's school conference, completely forgot to take Christopher to orchestra, never got any preparations/shopping done for Thanksgiving…nor did I do any of my own homework. I put up the white flag around 6pm. Served a dinner that of fruit, crackers and clam chowder (out of a can) and called it a night. I pick Hillary up at college tonight and don't even have sheets on her bed yet! Hope today is a bit more productive!

This post is so true to life!!!! I usually make a daily list of "to do" things….but as of late, I have been scribbling out the current day and replacing it with the new day every morning. The problem is that my list is not getting shorter, just messier!

Yep, me too…my big list of stuff to do ended up on today's list, and that's not going so well, either. At least you've blogged. I am WAY behind. Thanks for sharing and always keeping it real.
