We recently celebrated Jude’s 10th birthday. And, as the birthday-to-be boy, Jude got to choose his party favors.
And he asked for Silly String.
Normally I wouldn’t agree to a request so, well… messy. And not a request so expensive (because $3.50 times 10 ain’t happening for a party favor in this house).
But seeing as he was turning double digits (and the oh-so-hopeful look on his face), combined with the fact that he said he’d be just as happy with the Dollar Store variety, I relented.
So off to the Dollar Store we went, where he painstakingly picked out 10 cans of silly string – each with a specific sibling in mind.
Unfortunately, his birthday included some yucky weather, so the silly string portion of his big day had to be delayed.
But when the sun came out a few days later, the excitement was high.
And this mama was ready. Camera in hand.
We all headed outside, Clementine safe in the arms of her big brother, and a silly string war was had.
I wish there had been three of me to take pictures – so much fun.
It over way too soon, probably because I bought the $1 silly string instead of the real thing.
But we were able to live it all over again when we came in and had a look at the pictures. And laughed our heads off.
Next time, maybe I’ll buy the real thing.
If this is what $10 of fun looks like, I’d sure like to see $35 of fun.
