Happiness is a trip to Target

Since we live so far away from a lot of our family and friends, we often receive (and LOVE!) gift cards from Target for Christmas gifts. Even Isabelle and Sophie were armed with their cards on a trip to Target the other night.

As we perused the aisles, I was pleasantly surprised at how many toys were on sale, nay on clearance! So we spent a good bit of time, slowly walking up and down each aisle, letting each child try to find the perfect object of their gift-card affection.

Sophie walked out of Target with an adorable family of Asian dolls made by Ryan’s Room. We giggled all the way home about who Sophie said each ‘family member’ was. Sophie was, of course, the choice girl. Thankfully momma was the momma. Then the last three family members were the dad, the grandma and the grandpa. Asher was the current favorite big brother, so he was chosen to be the daddy. That left Chris to be the grey headed grandpa and mei mei to be the grandma. It was funny, especially since Sophie didn’t try to make me the grandma.

Dalton’s final choice was a Power Ranger Costume, complete with faux muscles on every inch of his torso. Dalton loves to dress up and this costume was deluxe… much fancier than what he usually gets for Halloween. He has spent the last three days in this costume during any chance he gets and no, he doesn’t get tired of having to take the entire thing off to go to the bathroom.

Isabelle made a spectacular find. (Let me preface this by saying that this girl loves a pretend ice cream cone. It started when we got our first set of pretend food and she hasn’t stopped loving the cone since. I am not sure what it is, she’s not particular about color or shape, it just has to be an ice cream cone. Since she loves them so much, she carries one with her almost all the time and quite a few have gotten “lost” – dumped on accident in WalMart or the grocery store parking lot. So we’ve been on the look out for new cones.)

We found the cutest set at Target, not on clearance but worth every penny. Isabelle’s eyes lit up like I’ve never seen when we handed her her new cones.

Wish we’d have been able to find these to give to her for Christmas, but at least she was able to get them with her gift card <3

We’re glad to see they had fun spending their gift cards. I always feel bad sending them, but now I know how much fun they had, and got to pick exactly what they wanted. Dalton is so cute in that costume, and the girls are as always, adorable.

I loved reading about your trip to Target with the children and their Target Gift Cards from Christmas in tow. Now I know that this really is a great gift for the children in seeing how much fun they had, and what adorable and cute items they selected. Your writing about it and your precious photos of them gave me the enjoyment of seeing them “opening their Christmas presents.” What fun for all of us.

Keep up the good work – I love it.
