Sophie has been telling me forever that she wants to go to school. Even before we knew Belle would be going to the SN preschool class, Sophie has been adamant that she’s big enough to go like her big brothers. So last February, I began the long and arduous process to get her enrolled in the local Christian preschool, the most well though of and, of course, the most difficult one to get into. I spent time with the director, filled out forms and waited to find out if we had been accepted into the 3-4 year old 2 day a week program. Obviously, Sophie was accepted and a few days before classes started, we headed out to get school supplies. Sophie carefully picked out her pink and cheetah patterned backpack, PINK scissors and just the right 5 oz. cups for snack time. She was thrilled when the big day arrived… she was finally going to school!! When we got into her classroom she was quiet, but was happy to sit on the floor with the other 9 kids and string beads. In fact, she told me “Bye, mama!”… dropping the big “get outta here” hint, I suppose π When I came back to pick her up she proudly displayed her watercolor masterpiece. The teacher told me she was so careful and spent so much time working on her purple bird picture that she actually had to tell her it was time to put up the paints. Guess my girl could use a little more ‘craft time’ at the ol’ hacienda! On Thursday Sophie wasn’t so sure when it came time for me to drop her off. In fact, she sorta started to cry. Not so much cry as get misty. And her nose turned red like it does when she’s really sad. It was breaking my heart. I SO didn’t want to leave her. But I reminded myself how LONG she had wanted to go to school.. how much we had discussed it (at her insistence, no less!) and I didn’t want her to give up on school just because she was nervous. Well, turns out she really doesn’t like school. She has decided she wants to stay home with mama. And that’s a-okay with mama. So for now, my big girl has decided she’s not so ready to be big π

How precious your “big” girl is – she is growing up so fast!! I bet momma is glad the Sophie isn’t quite ready to be big, too!
She is just gorgeous!
Piper starts on Friday, the pre-school 3’s, but since it is the ‘same’ place as her current daycare I’m sure she will be okay with the move to a big class.
Sophie is so sweet, she must love being with her Mommy!

Oh my gosh.. I had to do a lot of catching up on your blog. First.. how sweet that sophie wants to stay home with momma just a little longer. Second, Jude’s legs/feet look awesome! My son wore casts followed by shoes that looked like they were on the wrong feet for months afterwards as well. People do ask the dumbest questions. Isabelle looks so sweet and like a big girl getting on the bus.
ps.. our house LOVES guitar hero too!
Awwww! That’s so sweet!! I bet your not sad that Sophie is staying home with you for a bit longer! π
Awww….she looks so cute!!
She is so beautiful !!
Mom time is always grand !
Sophie is so beautiful!! I am sure that she is going to adjust just fine (and so is mama!!)
That’s okay..
I am sure mommy isn’t ready yet either..
Have fun with Sophie…
Have a Great Evening.

Sophie is growing up so beautifully! And good for her for knowing she’s just not quite ready for school yet!
Have fun with your Sweet Sophie!
Enjoy these precious days Stefanie. It was so good for you to listen to your daughter’s heart and not make her grow up too fast. You are a good mama. π

She is so darling… just beautiful! How hard it is to be strong and let our little birds fly…. I am so glad your little one came back to the nest… they grow up so fast as it is…
Guess it probably felt kind of good that she’d rather be home with mom for a bit longer! I CANNOT believe how grown up she looks in just a matter of months (from meeting her)… adorable, but time is just flying!
Oh she looks beaufiful for her first…and last (for now) day of school! I think that is so cute that she wants to stay home and I think you are a good mommy to follow her lead and let her. Now get out the paints and let her paint until she is DONE! You can’t put time limits on a masterpiece. π
Stefanie,
Stop by our blog….we gave an award for your on-going inspiration!!!!!
