Fun, fun, fun!

Got tagged by Michelle at Life With Three, who was kind enough to tag me a blogger she’d like to ‘get to know better’. Sounds good! I’m definitely gonna be checkin’ out your blog πŸ™‚

Okay, here goes. I liked this meme cuz’ it’s different. And pretty easy to answer. So humor me. If I tagged you, answer the questions… it’s really kinda fun πŸ™‚

Favorite person (outside family)? Ummm, aren’t I ticking off all the people who think they are my favorite by answering this very dangerous question?

Favorite food? A freshly cooked corn dog from the Texas State Fair. With mustard. Yum.

Quirks about you? I do sign language with my hands. Learned it on the bus when I was in elementary school and have done it ever since, especially while I watch tv. Additionally, (yes, you get a 2-fer!) I have a bad habit of chewing on the little bumpy thing on the inside of my mouth. Stress reliever, I guess. If I had known the lip wrinkles that this habit would have given me, I’da quit years ago. Too late now.

How would the person who loves you most describe you in ten words or less? Hubs said, “Uhh, I don’t know.” verryyyyy long pause. “passionate about Jesus. loves her children. emotional. loves the computer.” Loves the computer? Is there an underlying message for me here?

Any regrets in life? How could I? I’ve got a house FULL of blessings. If I had a ‘do over’ I might not have one of these precious babies to tuck in at night.

Favorite Charity/ Cause? Hubs and I are passionate about the orphans in China. We sponsor babies through HTS, Grace and Hope, New Day Foster Home, Bringing Hope to Children. Love them all.

Favorite Blog recently? Today, on Tish’s blog, I stumbled on Unstained. Heavy stuff. But good. Also, interestingly, the person who started this meme, at She Just Had To Say It, is quite entertaining. Haven’t read enough of hers yet, but haven’t read enough of much lately. Oh, and Rebecca’s Shoestring Mama is great… that girl has the best ideas!

Something you can’t get enough of? TLC from hubs. Kind words. Words of affirmation are my love language πŸ™‚ He’ll tell you the same thing.

Worst job you’ve ever had? Uhhh, waiting tables. I am a bit of a perfectionist (in my own way, okay?) and I would be so anxiety ridden over forgotten drinks and incorrect orders that I’d wake up in the middle of the night and sleepwalk, as a waitress. Not fun. Plus, it’s not cool to go home smelling like spaghetti sauce, nightly.

What job would you pay NOT to have? Interestingly, day care provider. I do not like wiping other people’s kids butts. Sorry.

If you could be a fly on the wall, where? In China. At my son’s orphanage. How I would love to have a glimpse into his life now, before we travel for him. He has no idea what’s coming πŸ˜‰

Favorite Bible verse right now? “For God is working in you, giving you the desire to obey Him and the to power to do what pleases Him.” Philippians 2:13

Guilty Pleasure? Reading other people’s blogs.

Got any confessions? Not in recent memory.

If you HAD to spend $1,000 on YOURSELF, how would you spend it? Can one get liposuction for $1000? 4 adoptions in a row will really put some junk in your trunk.

Favorite thing about your house? Wood floors. Black porcelain kitchen sink. The palest pale blue in our bedroom with the chocolatey brown furniture.

Least favorite thing about your house? Cruddy carpet. Cheap builder…

One thing you are bad at? Current events. If it’s not on the yahoo home page, I don’t know about it. Not politics, not world events, nothin’. And I like it that way. I have my babies to worry about. Hubs’ job is to worry about the world.

One thing you’re good at? Ummm, the computer? Can one be ‘good’ at that? One thing I am good at: busting hiney at 5:00 to make the house look presentable when hubs gets home at 6:30. And then I fix up a super fast dinner (I didn’t say good, I said fast). I do best under pressure.

If you could change something about your circumstances, what? Live closer to family. And settle down. Moving every 2-3 years is gettin’ old.

Who would you like to meet someday? Jesus! Can’t wait for that day πŸ™‚

What makes you feel sexy? My husband. He has a way of seeing me through rose colored glasses.

Who is your real life hero? Any woman that homeschools and doesn’t want to wring her child’s neck at the end of the day. Just can’t do it.

What is the hardest part of your job? Playing with my kids. Honestly, it’s easier for me to ‘do’. But when it’s just time to ‘play’.. something non– productive, I struggle. The more I do it, the better I get, but it’s a fine line to walk when there IS so much to do.

When are you most relaxed? After the kids go to bed.

What stresses you out? Other people’s kids. Especially if they are being mean to my kids. Hate that.

What can you not live without? Knowing how much God loves me.

Do you agree or disagree with the recent article that reported that blogs are authored by narcissists? I haven’t heard about it. See previous answer about ‘what I am bad at’…

Why do you blog? I started because I wanted to keep a diary of sorts for hubs when he was in the desert. Now I do it as a journal for our ever-growing family and to encourage others to adopt SN kids from China. Or to just adopt. Or to not be so hard on themselves if they aren’t the best mom on the planet. None of us are πŸ˜‰

I enjoyed learning even more about you! You are an inspiration to me. I need to be honest here and admit that I do have bouts of jealousy because you seem to have it all together and everyone adores you, for good reason. I know that struggle all comes from me because you are always so honest and open. By the way, I also do sign languange when I am thinking of certain things. Or I will type it and see how fast I can put a sentence together that was just said. I am glad to hear there is someone out there as odd as me! lol!! Oh and the whole chewing the cheek thing…one of my worst habits. My dentist always chew me out for it!

I KNOW one day soon I will get on your blog and see that TA announced!!

I loved learning more about you! Thanks for taking this on. I’m so impressed — you turned it around much faster than I did! I’m a “words of affirmation” girl myself, and laughed out loud when your husband said “loves the computer.” My husband says the same thing about me. I’m sure there’s a 12-step program somewhere πŸ˜‰ Oh and day care provider, I’m so with you on that.

What? I come here to find out how to donate to help the earthquake victims in China and what do I get as my thanks? A TAG! πŸ˜‰ You know I love ya! (And thanks to you and Ohilda for clueing me in about the donations and money matching with LWB…that is SO awesome.)
Okay I think that is way cool that you practice sign language b/c we’ve been doing that a LOT around here! πŸ˜‰
And please, Stefanie. Just tell me WHERE you would need liposuction? I don’t even want to hear that from YOU!
Oh, and that video was UMPH…right to the gut. Got me. SO convicting and needed to hear that. I need you to re-Dave-energize me! We’ve been frivolous of late and I’m sad about that.
Okay! That’s all! Whew, I had a lot of catching up to do!

My name is Nicole, and I came across your blog through a blog I read called “Laugh Often, Love Much”. I love what I have read so far I’m praying for my own China love that I hope to adopt one day. Please feel free to read my blog and I will add you to my list.

Oh, it IS a small world. One of the people you tagged is a friend of a friend and I’ve been reading her blog since before I even started my personal blog because we are also waiting on a Chinese adoption.

AND I read YOUR blog MONTHS ago when Danielle M did a blog makeover for our adoption blog.

BTW – where in GA are you?
