A hope and a future

This is Rocky. He is 6 years old lives in Changde and he has been waiting far too long for his chance at a forever family. His SN is clubfoot and limited use of his hands. Love Without Boundaries is offering a Tuan Yuan adoption assistance grant to help Rocky’s future family bring him home. The time is running short for this little guy to find a family of his own, please pass the word about this very special little boy!
Can you imagine the life a child like Rocky might have if he is left as an orphan? I can. With uncorrected clubfoot he might be able to walk, but maybe just into his 20’s. Then he’ll become cripple, having to get around on his knees, or pulling himself around on his hands. He will have no chance at holding down a job. He will not have a family because he cannot provide. He will be left to become what so many of us have seen and been brokenhearted by in China … a beggar.
I have considered this scenario many times because our boys, Jude and Shepherd, were born with bilateral clubfoot. And I imagine their birth parents imagined this same future as they chose to abandon their sons instead of continuing to care for them. I have talked to the guides in China, on each trip, about those who have untreated clubfoot and what their future might hold. And it’s incredibly heartbreaking. Please, let’s help Rocky come home and finally have the things we so take for granted. The joy of being able to run and jump. The love of a family. The security of a home. And the anticipation of a future!
If anyone has questions about clubfoot, I’d be glad to share our experience with our two boys who had their bilateral clubfoot very successfully treated with serial castings.. no surgery! Dr. Morcuende at University of Iowa has successfully casted children with uncorrected clubfoot up to the age of 7!
To see a video of this little guy visit Love Without Boundaries.
An attempt was made to surgically correct Rocky’s clubfoot, which was unsuccessful. When LWB first met Rocky, he was getting around by pulling himself with his hands. Since then he has been supplied a walker and is now able to get around upright. LWB has been in touch with Dr. Dobbs, an extremely well respected orthopedist, who has had a lot of success treating children like Rocky. He has offered to speak with any family interested in considering making Rocky a part of their family.

How adorable is he?? OMG I would love to have another little man to love. It wouldn’t take much for me to dive back into adopting again. BIG TUG on the heart!!
    Hugs~

Oh my goodness! I think we may be done adding to our family but when I think of adopting again, it is very frequently of an older boy. This litle guy needs the love and future of a family. How awesome that you are helping him do that!

I’m set with my 2 SN girlies, but if I ever married, and to a man interested in adding to our family, I would definately look at a boy. You have made club foot seem like such a manageable SN.

I hope his family finds him soon…
