Sunday Snapshot: {growing up}

Can it be?

The photographic proof doesn’t lie.

My Asher is getting big. So, so big.

I took these last fall, just because I thought the background was interesting.

And because I think my boy is so handsome.

Asher had just been in his new school for a few months when these were taken.

He was still getting a lay of the land.

Playing football.

Making new friends.

He was just a youngster.

Look at him now. I took these the other day as I was trying to get my settings just right on my camera. Checking to see how the light was in that spot of the yard.

He’s always been good about doing things like that for me. And, surprisingly, I ended up really liking these.

They managed to capture him as he is…. relaxed, happy, fun. And handsome.

These pictures also capture the undeniable fact that, just eight months later, he’s changed.

He’s gone and become a young man while I wasn’t looking.

He’s still just 10 (just a few days from turning 11) but he looks so much more, well… grown up, dadgumit.

Must have been the trip halfway around the world to pick up his sister, Vivienne.

And the fact that time rolls on, no matter how much we’d wish it wouldn’t.

Thankfully, he’s as sweet and pure-hearted as ever.

Still loves his mama. Loves his family. Loves Jesus.

I couldn’t ask for more.

The winner from last week’s Snapshot is Shannon from Daisy Dreams. Oh my gosh, what a Snapshot. I had managed to avoid the tears. Then I saw the picture of her precious Lily, a dachshund who was paralyzed and used a little cart to get around.

Big, ugly tears followed. Thank you for sharing your precious special needs canines with us, Shannon. I sure do love sweet doggies, and yours are as sweet as they come.

To join in this week, just copy the code under the Sunday Snapshot button and paste it into the body of your Sunday Snapshot post where you’d like the button to be displayed. Once you hit ‘publish’ it should show up just fine ๐Ÿ™‚

Then add your link below.

To do this, go to your blog. Click on the title of your new Sunday Snapshot post. The new url in your browser window will be a direct link to your Sunday Snapshot post. Copy that url and paste it into the inLinkz window below. If it’s just a general link to your blog, I’ll have to remove it. And I hate that.

Feel free to link up on Monday if you’re too busy on Sunday. I’ll leave the inlinkz open through Monday night… because I know some folks who like to link up a little late ๐Ÿ™‚

Aww, thanks! If my post brings awareness to special needs doggies to even one person, then it was a post well worth doing!

I have to agree…Asher looks so much older in just 8 months. What a handsome boy! Sometimes I wish life had a "pause" button!

Gracious what a difference in 8 months! I am kicking myself for not doing a first day of school and a last day of school picture each year. That would have been so neat to see the growth each year!

Great photos again! Your son's spirit just shines through!

Hey, have you heard that China adoption laws are changing to allow singles and others( who do not qualify) to adopt children older than two with SNs? A friend of mine who worked in China just posted this on FB, and I wondered if anyone else has heard it. I have several single friends who want to adopt kids with albinism from China, and I'd love to tell them they should move forward.

Handsome isn't even the word! I remember when I first came across your blog and read about him with you in China….he seems like an amazing young man, as all of your other children do too. I enjoy reading your blog when I get time…it's so beautiful, honest, and uplifting.

Love these 'before and after" post! So wild how fast they grow. We've only had our daughter home 7 months and tonight I looked at her and said, "Izabella, can you just stay just like you are right now forever and ever." She said, "Yeah!" As much as I wish she could–I know (and see from your post here) there are many blessings to come in the growing up future!

PS–my vote for sunday's snapshot winner is Katherine's. Beautiful inside and out!

My goodness, the changes in his face are amazing. I love that he loves his family and Jesus. Seems like a wonderful big brother to his little brood of siblings!
