the last day

It was the last day.

The last day with my firstborn here with me.

Here with me… and her many, many smaller siblings.

Whom, I am quite certain, she adores.

So, in honor of this special day (and upon the realization that this day truly was the last day) we ventured out.

And tried to capture the day.

And, if all went as planned, enjoy our final hours together.

So, we went to one of our very favorite spots.

To play.

To look.

To stop and pose for another picture.

If only I could make time stand still…

I certainly would.

But I can’t.

Farewell, my sweet girl-who-really-is-no-longer-a-girl-but-will-always-be-my-girl. Enjoy your senior year in college.

Just don’t enjoy it too much.

Where does all the time go? How does it slip by so quickly? Stefanie, tell us how to make it stop and keep them little, and more importantly at HOME forever! I'm not sure what I will do when my oldest leaves me, probably a couple years off. Probably just wonder how to stop time.
    Gorgeous girl!

Yep – I hear ya chick. Its so hard yet so exciting to watch our kids blossom into young adults. My oldest is a junior in college and expecting his 2nd child any day now. He lives about 8 or so hours away and I miss him every.day.

But, watching him grow into a responsible young man, caring husband, and wonderful father has been nothing short of spectacular!

    Hugs,
    Carla

You know, the littles are at a prime age for flower girls. I'm just saying.

Oh…I think I know how you are feeling. Just got home from dropping Hillary back at Harvard. So glad she's close enough to visit or I'd be even sadder than I already am. Only got a few weeks with her all summer 🙁
Best wishes for Victoria's last year!

Those last days at home are so emotional. I felt the same as you when we were saying good-bye to our oldest…"I wish I could slow time down." I am thankful for photos, for Skype and for computers so 'away' doesn't seem quite so 'away.'

My little sister (by 13 years) is Tori's age. It has been fun watching Tori experience life's milestones along with my sister. They are both special girls. My sister got engaged today to a guy we all love. Time doesn't stop for us, but it sure would be awesome to be able to bottle certain things up and keep them. Wouldn't it be magical to be able to travel back to specific times in our lives and experience them again? Best wishes to Tori in her senior year!

I love the pics, and I really like the one pic of the stone wall with the crack running thru it, strong but still standing, despite the "crack".
