Today’s to-do list included a duty I really don’t look forward to.
In fact, I avoid it like the plague. For as long as I possibly can.
But, eventually, the facts are too hard to ignore.
My kids needed a haircut.
And, by process of elimination, I’m the only man for the job.
But I didn’t start my 2.5-hour tour without some tools of the trade.
The absolutely, positively, necessary iced coffee.
The tunes.
And the $19.99 clipper set I bought at TJ M@xx a few years ago… and swore I’d get my money’s worth out of it.
Which took me approximated one really bad haircut to accomplish.
Next up was Isabelle.
This girl loves to get her hair cut.
She always asks for “short”. And holds her flattened hand up by the top of her ear.
Momma don’t do that short.
Then Miss Sophie Lu threw me a curve ball.
And asked for short as well. She held her flattened hand right by her chin. And reaffirmed several times that she wanted it as short as Isabelle’s.
Feeling like a wild child, Sophie was pretty pumped to see all that hair falling to the ground.
Not gonna lie. I’m going to have a hard time telling these two apart from behind now.
Miss Vivienne would not be left out.
She jumped up on the stool when it was her turn.
And smiled her little heart out. God love this child.
And yes, I did fix her bangs later.
Jude was next.
He’d been outside playing all afternoon. And I have no idea what was going on with his hair, although I suspect it was dried Kool-@id.
But we fixed all that.
At least, as best I could.
Because I am lots of things, but most definitely not a hair dresser.
Thankfully, my kids don’t seem too concerned about my lack of credentials.
Or skills.
Yet.
Chocolate chips can go a long, long way.

They all look fresh and beautiful. Good job. You are a brave, brave mama. I have done one bad haircut and never dared to go back. Think of all the money you saved today!
WOW!!! Great job! I have to do three and it's so draining! I am impressed, Stephanie!
Stefanie
That's adorable. Simply adorable. I dread cutting my kids hair! It's a LONGGG job and nobody cooperates.
Hairs to ya girl!!!
Cherie
Great job on the hair cuts! I do my boys hair, too. Just did my college boy's on Friday. I put it off… and they don't want to cooperate until the most inconvenient time for ME! LOL!!
That is impressive. I think weekly finger nail clipping on Sunday's is a huge event. I have not dare braved hair cuts! They all look adorable!
Oh Stephanie, is there anything you can't do? You amaze me girl! And I never officially congratulated you on #10…I can't wait to hear how this story unfolds…happy Sunday~
You are brave!!! I do all the haircuts around here, but my family all have super thick curly hair. It hides the learning curve.
I wouldn't even try to cut hair! payton however has given herself a few "trims" throughout the years. Good job…they all look adorable!
Is there nothing you can't do? Amazing. They all look beautiful! Cutting hair is one skill I would love to have. It would save me so much money! I would especially like to be able to cut my own since I can never get it cut just the way I like it ๐
You've got skills! The hack job I do grooming the dog doesn't bode well for future kids' cuts!
I am so impressed….I would not even attempt this with my kids. They ALL look GREAT! You could open a little business (because I am sure you have nothing else to do, right?) Love the black and whites too. Yum..iced coffee!
What a great job! The kids all look so happy!
Mom of 9 (soon to be 10), AOW US director, NHBO organizer, Wild Olive brainstormer, and now hair stylist too? Is there anything you can't do?
Your kids have the BEST smiles!
Lol! You are such a funny Mummy – no wonder your kids smiles are huge! And you did a great job on the hair cuts to boot!
I have been cutting my husband, my dad and my kids hair for years. I must say that for all the boys, one style of haircut is all I do! It is the same for each head and if they want different a shaved head is the options. =)
Cute kids!!
Chalena
Every time I cut the Tongginator's hair, it ends up being four inches too short. You know, because I even it out one way. And then I even it out the other way. And then… bwwwaahahaha!
You did a great job. Your kids are so cute.
They look great! I cut my kids hair too but the boys had to go and have wavy hair! UGH! How much easier it would be to cut if it were nice and straight!! LOL! I will have to get my clippers out next time! Did you see the Parent's mag article showing you exactly how to cut your own kids' hair??
It must be haircut weekend all around – The Boy had his hair cut too! Yours all turned out so well – great job. Rats – I missed the linky cutoff…. ๐ Next week!
I love the pictures, I wish haircuts went that well in our house. We had 1 little man that getting a hair cut is a 3 person job for!
I missed getting my link added when I went to do it this evening but I also a posted a Sunday Snapshot this week:)
Blessings,
gayly
I wonder if since we are in different time zones I have missed the deadline??? Hmm.. oh well, I have the link on my post but I can't seem to get it on here. I will try to get on the computer earlier next week. HaHa who am I kidding! I will do it on Sturday instead! Love the kids Hair Cuts! You sure are an amazing mom, seriously…is there anything you can't do? Nope!
Love the pics – something so artistic about B&W… And kudos on the haircuts – it's really quite amazing, to be able to cut all that hair in one day, and do all those different textures and styles. I'm impressed. I tried to do our cuts for most of the Gang when we first moved here and they all begged me to stop ๐ But now, The Boss shaves himself and two of the boys and the rest of us squeak by and stretch the trims as far apart as we can. Great job.
I already cut my husband's hair. ๐ This looks like an epically, adventurous adorable event!
Haircuts are in the air around here too. Great job- they look darling, and of course the boys look very cool!
I don't post very often, but I visit daily. My daughter loves to visit, too. She is 7 and she loves to see the pictures of your beautiful children. And me, they always make me smile. Sending prayers as you begin another journey to another wonderful child. And I love, love their proud haircut smiles!
