He’s made a complete recovery.
Amazingly, once those naughty quills were extricated, he was just fine.
Other than the dried blood chunks blocking the majority of the entrance to his nose the next morning.
Which I had to extricate, as well.
But really, he is fine now. 24 hours after the ‘incident’ and you’d never know he’d been within spitting distance of a porcupine.
And my kids? They have a bag of porcupine quills and a picture printed out of their simpleminded poor, defenseless dog (covered in said quills) ready to roll.
Gonna get a lot of show-and-tell play out of this one.
Thanks, Seamus.
We do love you.

Glad to hear all is okay! Great job in doing the removal all by yourselves!! I definitely would have been on the horn with the vet immediately – i'm such a chicken!!

Bad news is Semus is a boy, right?
Cause in my experience that means that he may have at least one more porcupine encounter before he really learns…

Seamus reminds me of my sisters boxer, Buster. Poor guy had his tongue bit by a rockchuck. My sister estimates that they have spent over $4000 on vet bills for all the mishaps he gets himself into. Good thing they really love him!
Glad to see Seamus is on the mend, until next time!

i know this is totally OT! I NEED to find the website for the lady who cooks and you posted about her a few months back and you went to her house. Is this making any sense? I had planned on making a recipe from her website for dinner and now I can't it! Can you help me! Thanks!

So glad is better, poor guy. My husband had our little Cavalier at an emergency vet clinic over the weekend and he said a doggy walked in with a snout that was looking just like Seamus'. Maybe it's porcupine hunting season ๐

Glad to see he is doing well. I sent a link to your first post to my sister-in-law who is a vet (but in Georgia, where there are no porcupines). Knew she would appreciate the post.

I am glad he is fine. I'll bet that was painful!!!
LOVE the apple/pumpkin photos. I so miss that about iving up North. Here in TX….we don't have apple orchards and the pumpkins are at the grocery store or Faux pumpkin patches set up at churches. There is one place but it is pretty far and the wait get in is an hour. We went once but it was very commercial. So, I adore seeing lil country places like this on the blogs…it makes me nostalgic.
We "window" shop a lot with our kiddos too:)))
AdorABLE PHOTOS!!!!

Poor Seamus! I have to tell you that when I was a kid, my dog Gypsy got caught by a porcupine and my sisters and I took the quils and pictures to show and tell for years! Funny-she still would get in the face of other animals even after the "attack". She never did learn her lesson!

Glad he's well – but still – the word "nimrod" leaps to mind when I think about it! ๐
