Sunday Snapshot: {Chinese Carnival}

It was a 2.5 hour drive.

Should have been 1.5, based on our GPS, but with our family, everything always takes longer. Add to that Boston traffic and well… we should have left earlier.

But we did get there. And the drive was certainly worth it.

The carnival was hosted by Harvard China Care.

And was held at Harvard.

And the goal was to raise funds for a little one in China to receive surgery for his hydrocephaly.

How cool is that?

And beyond a voluntary donation, everything was free.

With a family our size, we loooove free.

Isabelle enjoyed making paper flowers.

She took it all quite seriously.

And she loved the face painting.

That, she didn’t take so seriously.

Vivienne loved everything.

Especially the flower her baba made just for her.

Vivi’s little finger? Yeah, her baba is wrapped around it for sure.

And I’m sure you can see why…. how cute is she?

The girls all found a prop, and each worked the camera for a bit.

Isabelle chose the exotic fan.

And our shy Sophie Lu opted for the parasol over the feathered fan.

She sure rocked it though.

The boys were more interested in painting than posing with a parasol.

Asher created a masterpiece for his littlest sister.

Vivienne created more of a mess.

But she sure had fun doing it.

Our little family took up the entire painting table, save for the student in charge.

And Dalton wasn’t even there.

We even got a chance to meet the folks who gave us a heads up about the party.

Thanks, Albert.

Despite the long drive, and the few unmentionable mishaps along the way, we really did have a great time.

Totally worth it.

Because the kids?

Absolutely loved learning more about and enjoying their heritage.

And there’s something especially sweet about that.

Wow – you guys are sure adventurous! We live in a big suburb outside of our state capital (about 20 minutes) and we don’t even like to venture “downtown” – HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA. Man, what does that say about us? We might be hicks after all. Looks like the carnival was fun – Im glad you didn’t wimp out & miss it! (like I probably would have :))

Let me just say how much I love Harvard! We spent six years there while my hubby got his PhD, and I just loved walking through the Yard and around the Square. Beautiful architecture and such a unique vibe. Such fond memories!

So glad you guys found such a fabulous event to go to – how cool for you all!

Hoping this week gets you steps closer to your newest girlies!

    All the best,
    Nicole A., now in LA

What I’m going to say, is going to sound very superficial (which I’m pretty sure I’m not!) BUT – gosh your kids are SO GOOD LOOKING!!!!! ๐Ÿ™‚ Asher is going to be a heart breaker for sure! I’m quite certain the love of God, radiates from your family, and makes you all extremely attractive!!! ๐Ÿ˜‰
