Had my sister do a little digging in our genealogy. She remembered she had a book that belonged to our dad that listed the members of our family from way back.
Way, wayyyy back.
I figured it would be a good time, you know, just to check.
And lo and behold, she found some new names to throw into the mix…
and they are totally old school. Which I love.
Ada Belle
Phoebe
Hattie
Charlotte
Margarette
Catherine
Ada Belle? Does she sound sassy or what?
Hattie? She sounds like she’d know her way around a horse.
LOVE me some Charlotte. And Catherine. And Margarette.
Just thought I’d share these with y’all. Still thinkin’, I am. It sounds like most of y’all love Esther Mae (or Mei), but around here, Isabelle is called Mei Mei (or just Mei) 90% of the time…
Do really like it though.
Esther Charlotte?
Esther Catherine?
Vivi is Vivienne Kate, but that is short for Kathleen, not Katherine, so I think we’re good there, right?
Thanks, y’all for helping out.
I really love reading your comments, every one of them ๐ Y’all have some fantastic and incredibly creative ideas!
And it will be fun for sweet Esther to see all the effort that went into finding the *perfect* name for her!
P.S. The “So Loved” shirts are supposed to arrive in my hot little hands tomorrow! Can NOT wait!!
I absolutely loooooove Esther Charlotte. I don't mind Esther Catherine either though, it's very pretty.
Esther Charlotte gets my vote…I have a great Grandmother named Esther Marie love the name!!
Of course my vote is still for Esther Charlotte ๐
Esther Charlotte, for sure!
What about Esther Pearl? Pearl is the meaning of the name Margaret.
I meant to add that Pearl means innocence.
I have to say, I love Esther Charlotte!! Also thought of lengthening Lou to Louise like someone else said on the other post…would make for a fun nickname in Wee-Zee!! Can't wait to see a picture of her cuteness!
Esther Charlotte gets my vote, i think it is B-E-A-U-T-I-F-U-L! (:
Can't wait to see pictures of little miss Esther! The suspense is so long!!
I do think both are beautiful.
I am partial to Catherine…because I have a precious Catherine Elizabeth.
Still vote for Esther Elizabeth, Esther Caroline and Esther Christina.
Oh…names are so much fun!
Whatever you choose will be chosen with great love and care and thus will be just the name it should be for Miss Esther.
I love the name Charlotte, but I like the sound of Esther Catherine better!
Esther Charlotte. Hands down. Classy, beautiful.
I LOVE, LOVE Charlotte!
Esther Charlotte is very nice. But I really love Ashley's suggestion above…Esther Pearl.
ummmmm i love charlotte.
My favorites are….Esther Lou (so her nickname could be Essie Lou) too cute!! And Esther Charlotte.
Love Charlotte – I always picture strong, confident, beautiful and classy women when I hear that name. A very fitting legacy for sweet Esther…..
Okay Stefanie. My daughter's names are Emogene Mali, Hattie Jane, and Lydda Yichen. Emogene and Hattie Jane are family names (grandmother and great aunt, sisters). Lydda is a town near Joppa talked about in Acts. We pronounce it with the short i sound and then short u at the end. I was reading the Bible and found it. I thought it sounded old fashioned and matched Emogene and Hattie's names. I chose that name for our daughter 4 years before we adopted her. For your sweetie, I do like Esther Charlotte as well. It sounds good together.
Gosh I am the odd one out FOR SURE but Esther Lou rolls off the tongue to me. Perhaps it because it is Texan but nonethelss it has fewer syllables and is very southern to me. Several "lou's" in my family right now ๐ Good luck!!
I'd have to go with Esther Catherine, but then I might be just a bit biased. ๐
Love love love Esther Charlotte or Esther Margarette!!!
Sounds like you need to go out back and yell to make the right choice! My favorite is Esther Charlotte.
I am partial to Charlotte. But you can NEVER go wrong with Catherine! Thanks for letting us in on this, Stefanie. I do so love your names!
I personally like Esther AdaBelle… I think that is so cute… but Esther Charlotte is cute too.
I'm a fan of Charlotte but I do like the Belle too! I think Esther Belle or Esther Ada Belle sounds pretty!
Esther Maggie (short for Margarette) is so cute! Whatever you end up will be perfect, I'm sure. Congratulations on your two new daughters to be!
-Michele
I vote for Esther Catherine…
Hmmm – Esther Charlotte is probably my first pick, if you're sticking with the names as is. I do love Esther Catherine, but for me, the fact that Vivi's middle name is Kate makes me want to pass over it in favour of another one. Esther Margaret is a close second. However, I think my favourite is Esther Pearl. To me, it just flows so nicely, and I love the *secret* connection to Margaret, without being too obvious.
Can't wait to see what you decide
Esther Charlotte is my new favorite!!
Oh I just LOVE girl names! So many great comments and ideas! I particularly love the idea of hollering the name out the back door. Still smiling about that one. How about Esther Christine (after Chris, of course)? Christine means "follower of Christ" which your husband surely seems to be. I love how it connects her name to the journey you have been on to bring this sweet girl home. How you have had to follow His leading and trust Him completely. I think a name should tell a story ๐ Give that a holler and see what ya think… BTW, Love Esther Pearl too. Can't wait to see this sweet little pixie with the long eyelashes! Just say'in.
๐ I KNEW there had to be a Charlotte back the back of the tree ther somewhere (everyone has a Charlotte back there) – and its such a beeeautiful name! Ada Belle rocks!
Nothing like living vicariously thru you!
Lovin Esther Christine, Esther Charlotte or what about Lillian Esther (she could still go by her middle name).
Votes casted from Hong Kong,
Kim
LOVE LOVE LOVE Esther Margarette!!! Our Asian Princess almost had that for her middle name… it's a family name as well.
OK – I tried not to do this – I'm just sayin – I really REALLY tried…
I'll vote for Esther Marie – in deference to my bride's name – love the name and love the woman…
But in keeping with the season – and harkening back to the 70's when I was young and 'in the world' – and covering an old "knock knock" joke we do in our house….
Esther Bunny?
Sorry – I really tried not to say that….;)
hugs – aus and co.
Definitely LOVE Esther Charlotte! Do we get to see pics once you finally have Esther name picked? ;o)
I am partial to Esther Catherine. I do like Esther Charlotte, but I think Catherine has a better flow. Remember, Catherine means pure! I'm sure your Esther will bring PURE JOY!
I vote for Esther Catherine!
What about if you switch places Haddie Esther…. Haddie being short for Haddassah …which was Esther's name b/f it was changed to Esther????
We think Esther Margarette is just beautiful. A Pearl of great price. And it's our Lily's name too!
I LOVE Hattie, but not sure if it flows well with Esther. I also think Bridget's idea is pretty clever:) Esther Charlotte is sweet- but I'm partial because of my Mimi Charlotte
Ester Charlotte is lovely…and classic! Still like Ester Elise and Ester Anneliese, too!
I'm totally defecting to Esther Charlotte! I LOVE the name Charlotte – it's one that we have picked out if we ever have a girl. It means strong little woman – which is exactly the type of girl I would hope to raise; the world needs more of them! And taking into consideration the character of Esther from the historical account, I would think those two names are just perfect for each other.
Wow, am I the only one voting for Esther Phoebe? Means "bright; radiant" and is a Biblical name. :o)
I love Ester Charlotte!
I just LOVE Esther Elizabeth!!!
LOVE! I adore Esther Charlotte ๐
I adore ALL the old names so am NO HELP in narrowing down the list! She will wear the name WITH STYLE no matter WHAT it is!
Cannot wait to see the tees!
Esther Charlotte is my fav out of the two
Big families are so cool! We have 12 children and life is good.

oh yea. esther charlotte ๐
Have to say that Esther Catherine has a lovely ring to it….
I think it would help us pick out a name if you could post a quick little picture of the angel? Hmmm?
I tried to submit 'going further back in the family tree' the other day & had troubles so I am glad you did that. I was going to suggest–Mayz-(May-zee, or Mays) Macie or Macy.
We used Mayz about 4 years ago for one of our foster babies.
Congrats & Best of Luck with the Names.

Hi There – Love Phoebe and Charlotte – knew a Charlotte too, wonderful woman, strong, smart, independant.
Stefanie, I like Esther Charlotte…and call her Charlie. I love names that can be used for boys or girls. Maybe that's why I have a Kris, Bailey and Brinley. ๐
So happy for you!!
