the ol’ family tree…

Had my sister do a little digging in our genealogy. She remembered she had a book that belonged to our dad that listed the members of our family from way back.

Way, wayyyy back.

I figured it would be a good time, you know, just to check.

And lo and behold, she found some new names to throw into the mix…

and they are totally old school. Which I love.

Ada Belle
Phoebe
Hattie
Charlotte
Margarette
Catherine

Ada Belle? Does she sound sassy or what?

Hattie? She sounds like she’d know her way around a horse.

LOVE me some Charlotte. And Catherine. And Margarette.

Just thought I’d share these with y’all. Still thinkin’, I am. It sounds like most of y’all love Esther Mae (or Mei), but around here, Isabelle is called Mei Mei (or just Mei) 90% of the time…

Do really like it though.

Esther Charlotte?

Esther Catherine?

Vivi is Vivienne Kate, but that is short for Kathleen, not Katherine, so I think we’re good there, right?

Thanks, y’all for helping out.

I really love reading your comments, every one of them ๐Ÿ™‚ Y’all have some fantastic and incredibly creative ideas!

And it will be fun for sweet Esther to see all the effort that went into finding the *perfect* name for her!

P.S. The “So Loved” shirts are supposed to arrive in my hot little hands tomorrow! Can NOT wait!!

I am partial to Catherine…because I have a precious Catherine Elizabeth.
Still vote for Esther Elizabeth, Esther Caroline and Esther Christina.

    Oh…names are so much fun!
Whatever you choose will be chosen with great love and care and thus will be just the name it should be for Miss Esther.

Okay Stefanie. My daughter's names are Emogene Mali, Hattie Jane, and Lydda Yichen. Emogene and Hattie Jane are family names (grandmother and great aunt, sisters). Lydda is a town near Joppa talked about in Acts. We pronounce it with the short i sound and then short u at the end. I was reading the Bible and found it. I thought it sounded old fashioned and matched Emogene and Hattie's names. I chose that name for our daughter 4 years before we adopted her. For your sweetie, I do like Esther Charlotte as well. It sounds good together.

Gosh I am the odd one out FOR SURE but Esther Lou rolls off the tongue to me. Perhaps it because it is Texan but nonethelss it has fewer syllables and is very southern to me. Several "lou's" in my family right now ๐Ÿ™‚ Good luck!!

Hmmm – Esther Charlotte is probably my first pick, if you're sticking with the names as is. I do love Esther Catherine, but for me, the fact that Vivi's middle name is Kate makes me want to pass over it in favour of another one. Esther Margaret is a close second. However, I think my favourite is Esther Pearl. To me, it just flows so nicely, and I love the *secret* connection to Margaret, without being too obvious.

Can't wait to see what you decide

Oh I just LOVE girl names! So many great comments and ideas! I particularly love the idea of hollering the name out the back door. Still smiling about that one. How about Esther Christine (after Chris, of course)? Christine means "follower of Christ" which your husband surely seems to be. I love how it connects her name to the journey you have been on to bring this sweet girl home. How you have had to follow His leading and trust Him completely. I think a name should tell a story ๐Ÿ™‚ Give that a holler and see what ya think… BTW, Love Esther Pearl too. Can't wait to see this sweet little pixie with the long eyelashes! Just say'in.

    OK – I tried not to do this – I'm just sayin – I really REALLY tried…

I'll vote for Esther Marie – in deference to my bride's name – love the name and love the woman…

But in keeping with the season – and harkening back to the 70's when I was young and 'in the world' – and covering an old "knock knock" joke we do in our house….

    Esther Bunny?

Sorry – I really tried not to say that….;)

I'm totally defecting to Esther Charlotte! I LOVE the name Charlotte – it's one that we have picked out if we ever have a girl. It means strong little woman – which is exactly the type of girl I would hope to raise; the world needs more of them! And taking into consideration the character of Esther from the historical account, I would think those two names are just perfect for each other.

I tried to submit 'going further back in the family tree' the other day & had troubles so I am glad you did that. I was going to suggest–Mayz-(May-zee, or Mays) Macie or Macy.
We used Mayz about 4 years ago for one of our foster babies.
Congrats & Best of Luck with the Names.
