This day has been some time in the works.
Quite a long time in the works, actually.
But today, with poles, bait and license in hand, we all headed to the lake.
With just two poles, everyone had to take turns.
But the kiddos managed to busy themselves with rock throwing.
And leaf collecting.
And everything else to be done by a body of water when one is young.
Eventually, Sophie and Isabelle determined to fashion their own poles.
With their own bait.
But they didn’t fare much better than the bigger boys with the bigger poles.
Honestly though, I was oh, so relieved that nothing was caught.
Eww.
And although nary a fish nibbled on our artificial shrimp bait, the kids had a grand time.

Which, really, was the whole reason for the license, and the poles, and the effort.
So, I’d say our day was most definitely a success.
P.S. Poppy is notably absent in these pictures… she was napping, snug in her car seat, dreaming of catching her own fish, I’m sure.

We did a lot of fishing this summer – without a lot of fish being caught! But fun was still had by all 🙂 my kids love skipping rocks and finding critters to torture!
What a fun day! Well worth the effort I’d say!
Oh how fun!!!! We have been fishing here too lately. Harry has us exploring every fishing hole we can find but they are not as pretty as your lake!!!
Looks like a fun day outdoors — our sunday snapshot shows a fun outdoorsy day too. 🙂 Yay fall!
Fishin’ is good for the soul.
Looks like a fun day! Thank you for sharing!
PRECIOUS!!!
My kids love to fish but I am with you – Eww!!! LOL!
What a fun time! I hope that next time you catch (and release:) a fish.
like the pics of asher smiling…hope he is feeling better
Love the fishin’ photos! Can you tell me about your van? We’re moving to the Big O’ Family Van very soon and we’re looking for a good one? Do you like yours?
Yes, we do! It’s BIG, though. Tall, I mean. So my husband drives it as the size is a bit intimidating to me 😉 It’s great for our big family, though. Very spartan interior (nothing to mess up :)) and plenty of room in the seating for even adults. Ours seats 10 and even with it’s size, it gets great gas mileage (better than our Odyssey!) and rides really nicely. We bought ours used, it’s a 2006 and had 80K miles on it and we got it for less than $16K. It’s perfect for us!
OK–that sounds great! What kind is it? (:
Love the post today about your house. What a blessing! We’ve never been blessed with “base housing” quite like that, but God has always been faithful!
Love it – and a bad day fishin’ is better than a good day doin about anything else!
hugs – aus and co.
Looks like an awesome way to spend the day. Our boys love to get out their fishing pole with a weigh ion the end and practice casting in the driveway, dreaming of big fish they caught. Love all the pictures of your kiddos!
