my favorite. for today.

Today was my kids’ last day of school. Woohoo.

I seriously need to rev myself up for all the chaos that is headed my way.

And I’m still off the java, so any ideas for holistic alternatives would be appreciated.

Anyway, back to my favorite photo. I took my camera out to the bus stop this morning to get a quick picture of all the kiddos on their last day of school. Sort of the ‘after’ in a ‘before and after’ for the school year – I’ll be posting those pics tomorrow. But on my way back inside, I noticed the sun coming up. Seriously, it’s so beautiful around here I can’t stand it.

So I decided to try to grab some quick pics of the sun coming through the trees.

And, who should appear, but my new favorite model.

I took a series of these at different apertures to see how the sun flare would change as my aperture changed. So this really was just sort of a practice shot. But I actually like it.

I have a friend who grows her own sprouts and swears they are better than caffeine.

Unfortunately, I despise sprouts. But, depending on how my summer goes, I just might want the number of your friend 🙂

Seamus is beautiful, but quite frankly, he SCARES me. Great pic!

He is such a sweetheart… but he has terrified a mail delivery person, or two 😉

That dog kills me — he is always looking so “royal” like in your shots. A woman would kill for his looks — not a bad angle and always looking picture perfect!

Amen. And he never worries about my pictures making him look fat.

My daughter and I are amazed that he sits still for you to take such beautiful pictures of him! Our boxer wiggles even when he sits!

He has had to learn to sit… he LOOOVES to get pats and scratches and love, so we have had to teach him to sit BEFORE he gets all that lovin’. Now he’ll sit for a good bit of time and, as long as he gets the payoff in the end, he’s happy!

Beautiful – both the sun flare and your adorable model. Were you using your 50mm? I didn’t have much luck with my 50 and had to switch to my kit lens when attempting sun flares. Although those weren’t great either. So obviously, I just need to practice. How high was you aperture on this one? Thanks! You’re gonna have lots of fun in Lisa’s next class!

Yes it was my 50mm, it’s all I’ve got! I took a series of these, and I’m gonna post them soon. Same shot, different apertures. It was a fun little experiment! I’ll post all the settings there.
And yes, I can’t WAIT to take Lisa’s class!

To me with his little mouth looking like it is smirking on that one side it looks like he is saying, Humph if I have to sit here. I’ve had to give up caffine and have tried Chickory which is actually quite close to arabaca coffee (as opposed to kona or another bean) sadly I don’t much like arabaca. I also drink sassafras tea which is hard to find but it is what rootbeer should be made out of if it is the real stuff, the health benefits is it is supposed to improve circulation. It is only available seasonaly around here and it is a native tree so it might be even more hard to find where you are. I stock up when I can.
