Such fun.
We all gathered at Victoria’s apartment in downtown Birmingham to watch the fireworks that are set off yearly at the Vulcan.

But first, a stroll. Especially since GG and the cousins were there – downtown Birmingham is a fun place to wander.

Then for some serious snacks.
Victoria and Jon made the yummiest appetizers and we brought an onslaught of desserts. And fun bottled drinks with paper straws.
Then we headed up to the rooftop to watch the show.

Of course, the fourth of July isn’t complete without a few fireworks of your own…
which might have been my favorite part of the evening.

There’s just something about a sparkler that makes a person smile.

It was a spectacular evening. And that’s saying a lot since the fourth has not historically been my favorite… just too chaotic and crowded and sweaty and busy.
But this was perfect. Sort of had the place to ourselves from the spot we watched and the streets were so quiet afterward.
Honestly, if we keep doing this every year, I’m going to start really looking forward to celebrating.

Pretty sure my kiddos will too.
