We first saw Sophie’s face on September 7. Our agency inquired on our behalf with the CCAA if they would consider us to adopt her since we have more children than China allows. We heard the good word a few days later and our LOI (Letter of Intent) was sent to China on September 22. It was a long wait for PA (Pre Approval) since we knew that if we did receive PA that would mean that CCAA had granted us the family size waiver that we needed. On November 10, we got the great news! We were, in China’s eyes, Sophie’s family-to-be! During this wait we found some pictures of our girl that had been taken by a family who had recently travelled to Sophie’s orphanage. I didn’t even recognize her at first since her referral pictures were so outdated!
Here she is, first in line to receive a lollipop. The other is of her from behind…notice her split pants!
The lady in the grey sweat suit is Sophie’s nanny. She is in charge of only three little girls and has been basically Sophie’s ‘mommy’ since Sophie arrived at the orphanage at only 6 days old. What a blessing!
