And school is out.
How the heck did that happen?
Actually, school has been out for a week already and I’m just now getting my head above water long enough to post these pictures I took on the last day of school (aka last morning to wake up at 5:45 until September, hallelujah).
And in a effort to keep a record of how they grow, I’m including a little snippet about each of these three – “the school kids” as they’re known around here.
I’ll be sharing about the other kiddos when they’re actually done with school.
First off is Shepherd. He just finished 1st grade and he loved every minute of it. Not the most organized kid, though. Today I found a box of Kleenex in the bottom of his backpack that he was supposed to give his teacher at the beginning of the year.
But he makes up for it in cuteness.
Shep is 45″ and 41 pounds – that’s up 1″ and 2 pounds since September. Slow and steady wins the race, little man.

What he wants to be when he grows up: “Ummm, a police officer. So I can buy some donuts when I’m done with my job.”
Favorite thing about 1st grade: “When I went on a trip to Golden Flake and I got three packs of chips!”
Something he wants to do this summer: “Go to the swimming pool at the YMCA.”
Something he wants to learn next year: multiplication tables
And then there’s Jude. Finishing up 2nd grade. Pretty sure he’s ready to start 5th grade.
He’s already working on his no-teeth-showing-junior-high-football-player smile.
Jude is 47.5″ and 48 pounds. That’s up 1.5″ and 2 pounds since the start of school last September. Yep, he’s huge.
Best friend: Parker
Favorite color: red
Favorite TV show: Sponge Bob
Favorite food: chicken… any kind of chicken
What he wants to be when he grows up: “I really don’t want to be anybody. I just want to be a dad.” (???)
Favorite thing about 2nd grade: “Going to Baker’s Farm because there was a hay stack and we got to play on it.”
Something he wants to do this summer: “Go to the Y. To swim.”
Something he wants to learn next year: multiplication tables (they did not hear each other’s answers, go figure.)
And last but not least, sweet Sophie. Finishing up 4th grade. This was her last day in public school for the foreseeable future – Sophie will begin homeschooling next year.
The fact she is not crying is a good sign.
Sophie is 51″ and 60 pounds. That’s up 1″ and 2 pounds since the start of school.

I really appreciated the measurements as I am surprised how slow our sweet Teddy is growing. He has put on 1 pound in 6 months home so I guess he is right on schedule with your bunch.

Do you have any children’s shirts left? My son loves the one I bought a few months ago. I’d love to buy another one or two. Let me know.:)

When my son had just turned eight and I did my “profile of an 8 year old post”, my son told me he wanted to be a dad when he grew up too!
