**UPDATE** Lifted from my good friend Barbie’s blog 🙂
Praise God! Things are looking more optimistic but still so many unanswered questions for this family. Here is an update from one of Kathy’s friends.
Hello everyone. Well we have some encouraging news, the doctors have been able to stabilize Andrew’s left leg. They did however find what they had suspected. All of Andrew’s muscles and nerves were destroyed. They were able to get a pulse in the foot, but are not sure he will have use of it. Kathy says the main worry at the moment is infection. Andrew has no casing on his leg, so he just has an open hole, if you will. The plan is to do more work I believe Saturday and then on Tuesday they will go back in to surgery and take stomach muscle for a graft and hope that takes. If it does it would seem to suggest the leg will be saved. The doctors have been bringing him in and out of the drug coma and he is able to respond to their questions, so this is very good news as well. Kathy is very tired, but very optimistic! Keep the prayers and positive energy coming, it is going to be a very long road for them.

A good friend of mine and fellow adoptive mama has had a horrible tragedy strike… the kind a mother fears most. Here is a forwarded email from another friend of their family:
Kathy Lowe’s bio 16 year old son was in an awful wreck last night. It is bad…very bad. Please say a prayer for Andrew, and please add him to any prayer chain you know about. Kathy was on the way to their local hospital to be by the side of a good friend whose 16 year old daughter just died in a non-related accident, when Kathy got the call that her own son had just been airlifted to Springfield, MO. My heart is breaking for Kathy. He made it through the night. His brain is swollen and bleeding. He has multiple broken bones. His leg is destroyed, and the doctors do not think they can save it. They are not sure he will survive another night. It is as serious as it can get. Please pray.
Kathy is BEGGING for prayer. Please enlist all prayer warriors you know.
His name is Andrew Lowe. He is 16, and just got his license.
Praying right NOW….
I know Kathy. I’ll be praying for her…NOW!!!

Also praying right now!
Oh Dear Jesus, please sustain Andrew.
I felt a strange urging to check your blog again even though I already visited tonight! Now I know why.
Intereeding and asking for a miracle,
Holly
Hi Stephanie,
We live 10 minutes form Spfd, Mo. Do you know if they have church family with them? We attend a large church and I KNOW someone on staff would go and be with them. Or I can help in any way. We are praying.

Praying…
I’m a lurker, but wanted to come out and say my prayers are with him. How tragic.
I have been praying all day for Andrew. My heart is just breaking for Kathy and her family. I am thankful they have such a strong faith but I know they really need lots and lots of prayers right now. Thanks for posting this.
Oh how my heart is hurting. I have a 16 year old daugther who got her drivers license 5 weeks ago. She has already had one little fender bender. I pray each and every single time she gets behind the wheel. I am praying and praying for this family.

I talked to Kathy on email and I am going to post as well. Do you mind if I lift your email for part of it? Praying mightily for Kathy, Andy and their beloved Andrew.
Father God – I lift this family up to you in expectant prayer for healing & hope. I pray that you hold them & keep them & heal their precious son. These things are so hard to understand, Lord & I just pray that you will be our strength when we don’t understand…
Believeing in the power of prayer

We are in the same adoptive families group as Kathy. We live in the Spfld area as well. Do you know if they need help with the girls, etc? Please keep us updated and thanks for sharing this. I’m praying and asking everyone I know to pray for Andrew!!!
Thanks so much for your prayers! To those who have specifically asked if they can help the Lowe family, I’ve forwarded your notes to Kathy. I have heard from her a bit today but don’t have an update on Andrew yet. If you know something, please let me know… we’re all praying for him and the entire Lowe family!
Oh, this hits close to home. I’m praying for Kathy and Andrew. My oldest son is 16 and will take his driver’s test next month. I’m having a REALLY hard time letting go and I’m reminded daily how fragile life is. I pray for this family with all my heart.
