Here’s our living room, lovely tan 80’s tile on the fireplace, carpet not lookin’ too bad on the top…
But check it out from the bottom! GROOOSSSS!!! I knew my nose was right! We were so glad to get this nasty carpet out of our house… even the subfloor looked better than the bottom of that carpet!
Done! We had the fireplace tiled with multicolored slate and I love the way it all turned out! We’re not done decorating, but for now, it’s perfect ๐
Family room before… my wonderful husband was in the process of ripping that stinky carpeting out
looks fantastic Stef! I know what you mean, our house was horrific when we bought it! the previous owners ahd febreeezed the carpet and it wasnt until after we had the cleaner come through that the stench was released! We had to rip em up asap because two months later we got Piper!!!
Everything looks fab, you guys are super decorators, we’ve been in our house 3 years and it still feels like a college dorm!
I had similar carpet to yours when I first moved in and now hardwoods – aren’t they fabulous! Your rooms look brand new, as does your fireplace! Was that a pool I spotted outside the huge windows – I’m extremely jealous over here. ๐
Stef, you are a modern day miracle – GORGEOUS!! The hardwood looks beautiful and I love the shape of that room, such amazing character – oh wait, is that just all those beautiful children to fill up that room? Just might be;)
Have a blessed week – it looks so cozy, wish I could visit!
Oh man that carpet was disgusting. Who would have ever known, except for your nose. lol!!
The new floors are BEAUTIFUL!! I am sure it was hard keeping the kids out of the way but oh so worth it!! Also, love the new slate tile on the fireplace. I love the look of slate. Great job!!
Love all the changes – how in the world have you been able to make so much progress in such a short time with so many little ones and with all those trips to Iowa? You are amazing!!
It looks GREAT!!! Is that a pool in your backyard!?! Lucky girl! I love the wood – we are thinking of doing the same thing – so nice when you have little ones running amuck, eh??
It’s been a LONG time since I popped over here … what beautiful floors! Can I ask what brand you picked? Also, where did you move to? I moved from Atlanta to Maryland last year, and my house needs new floors too! ๐
I meant to comment long ago but just now catching up. I LOVE your renovations to your house! It is beautiful!!! I know you all will love living there with your family. You are a great decorator!!! Keep the pics coming!
I love that last pic. of your daughter watching Little Bear and your dog blissfully sleeping ๐

Your new home looks great, Stefanie. Just think of the huge dent you have made in such a short time.

Love the hardwoods. I will never have carpet in my house again, I am such a fan of our hardwoods. With pets and kids it is almost a must!
The floors are gorgeous!!

Yark! The back of that carpet!
Looks like the previous owners had Great Danes that weren’t housebroken!
Things looking great now! Ya’ll have really been working hard!
