the mamarazzi

I recently switched from my old Canon Rebel XT to a Nikon d90. I know, Canon lovers are probably throwing tomatoes at their computer screen right now. But I really felt like Canon didn’t offer a comparable camera for me to upgrade, that is, without spending a big ol’ wad of cash. So I settled on the d90 and I gotta say, ihavnoideawhatimdoinwidit.

Totally relearning a camera is something this old gal just can’t seem to manage between diaper changes and laundry loads. So there, I have an excuse.

But I really want to learn to take better pictures. It’s just so. much. work.

Here’s the one I took of Sophie, spur of the moment, and I love that about it.

Taken in the kitchen, very everyday-ish, but her beauty is extraordinary.

Even through the amateur lens of her mamarazzi mama ๐Ÿ˜‰

I am not sure what is “ordinary” about it at ALL!! I think you are going to do great with the subjects you have around your place ๐Ÿ˜‰

again, gorgeous photo! i am surprised that the difference between canon/nikon is so great…you would think that, for the most part, they’d be the same. but perhaps it is because you upgraded? maybe the learning curve is steep when you upgrade even in the same brand????

    Hi Stephanie,
I’m a Nikon girl too. I have the D80 and am looking to upgrade to either the D90, or the 700. I’m currently taking the rawsii class (because of you:) and love it. I have had my camera for over a year and never went off the auto setting but Christie is making me learn how to use the manuel setting and I LOVE it.

Um, just so you know, you’re holding your own quite well and making me rethink my own qualifications for the mamarazzi blog! Seriously, your photos are awesome.

And I just have a Nikon D50, but I truly love it. I would upgrade to the D90 in a heartbeat. And if I’m reading the manual right (which I have a hard time slowing down long enough to do myself), I cannot shoot on manual and adjust the ISO. BUMMER. So I’m going to start selling blood plasma so I can get me a D90. ๐Ÿ™‚
