The leaves are changing so quickly here, and the array of colors is positively breathtaking. Chris and I are purposefully taking time to get out with the kiddos and enjoy the changing season before we freeze our butts off winter descends upon us.
Last weekend as we were driving home, we ran across a beautiful state park. We decided to return the next day, properly attired and with the dogs, to check it out on foot.
It was quite the Herculean effort just to get everyone out the door and in clothes that, if necessary, could be burned and not missed, but that also covered enough flesh to keep the cold at bay.
Jackets? Water bottle? Sunglasses? Diapers? Wipes? Kids? Dogs? Leashes? Dog poop bags?
At one point while we were getting ready, I secretly wanted forgo the family outing and just stay home and watch a movie.
And eat popcorn.
But, clearly, my secret wish wasn’t fulfilled. And I’m so glad it wasn’t… pictures of us eating popcorn and watching a movie wouldn’t be nearly as interesting.
And the colors of the leaves as nature prepares for winter.
And Shepherd standing on a bridge.
And Asher looking through some kiddie binoculars.
Wait. Maybe these really are boring.
You don’t get a stray tick and some dog poop on your shoe from staying home and watching a movie.

Looks like a great day. Stefanie, did you hear about Dr. Ponseti's passing? I assume you have heard but wanted to let you know just in case you had not heard yet. He helped so many kids!!!! My prayers are with his family.

You captured the day perfectly through your pictures and words. These days will mean the world to each of the participants and they will be able to look back upon it because of your efforts.

I want to live on the east coast. Have I said that enough? Looks beautiful. Looks like fun. Dog poop and ticks are always better than a movie anyway π

Never boring, Stefanie! Beautiful! Isn't amazing all the gear needed for a simple park trip? Yesterday we had soccer games after church and so our van was packed to the top with all the stuff. Wow. Wow. When we got back home, unpacked, and the heaps of sweatshirts and gear that needed washing. Wow. How can it be that I'm doing laundry like I've just come home from China and all I did was go to church and soccer? π But I am SO THANKFUL for all the stuff!!!!!!!!!!!!! It means we've got lots of lovin', right? π
The fall colors are breathtaking…thanks for sharing your pics of your fun day!!!!!!!!
Lots of love andprayers for that TA!

"you are changing the world, one little heartbeat at a time" This is from my favorite song and reflects on the simple, special moments in life, like your walk in the woods. Have a great day!
