Sunday Snapshot: the boys

First, let me just say this...

The snow has descended upon us.

And it’s a beautiful thing.

My boys thought so too. They couldn’t wait to get home from our afternoon spent at a military Christmas party to don their brand new snow garb.

Since I couldn’t decide who to focus on for this week’s Snapshot, I decided I’d just do both of them. Together.

After all, together is how they are about 95% of their waking hours.

Asher is 2 1/2 years older than Dalton. And their relationship wasn’t always so rosy.

Even though Asher is the most easy going person on the planet, Dalton is, well, not.

When Dalton was a baby, he’d get mad at Asher for some still-unknown-to-us reason. Then he’d bite him. Really bite him. Like with blood and all.

It didn’t matter what we did to punish Dalton, he was like a pit bull on pot roast when he got mad at Asher. And sweet Asher never once defended himself.

I wonder if that’s something that babies in the family have in common. I was the baby and they tell stories about how mean I was.

But I digress.

Clearly they’re beyond the biting stage now.

In fact, they’ve moved on to really loving each other. Or at least being really grateful they have a partner in crime. And sports.

They run madly after each other, both trying their darnedest to throw the other one to the ground. And they call it football. Or wrestling if there isn’t a ball handy.

They go through this ritual daily, sometimes for hours on end.

Another reason I am so. very. happy. that I am not a boy.

But these guys are just that: all boy.

And brothers to the core.

LOVE the snow pictures of your boys together!!! There is just something about *brothers!*

I'm so glad to know that the biting stage will one day end. My Eli (who's usually my laid-back one) decided he had enough the other day and bit Ethan so hard on the chest!!!

Anyhoo … your children are all just precious! … And I can't wait until you get Baby Vivi and we can read a Sunday Snapshot all about HER!!! πŸ˜‰

Beautiful!!!! I do love me some snow. While sitting in the comfort of my sweats with my cocoa!

Dalton & Asher sound a lot like Cole & Carter – they have spent SO.MUCH. time together, it is hard to ever imagine them apart…

Long time lurker here. I have been pondering this question in my mind and decided I'd ask- hope you won't mind. I've been doing the counting and seems like one little person is missing. Don't you have another little bio. boy w/ blond hair? Maybe I'm crazy and have lost count. I do have 6 at home myself πŸ™‚
You are an inspiration, and I love your blog and your T-shirts at Wild Olive and all you do for the orphans of China! Praying that Vivi will be home soon!!!

As the mother of 3 little men–9, almost 7, and 5–can I just tell you how much I love this post!!! Definitely had some quotable lines—"pit bull on a pot roast" and "another reason I'm glad I'm not a boy." LOL

First of all, Stefanie, I have just have to say how amazing all of your photos are. You really have a great eye and really know how to use your {gasp, gulp, sputter…} Nikon. As a Canon girl, that was tough to get through. LOL.

I love the glimpse inside the personalities of all of your kiddos. I can't wait for the Sunday where you'll be posting about Vivi!!!!

Ya gotta love boys. My boys are 9 and 10 and have never seen a professional wrestling match, and yet, they know the moves so well. Must be inate to being a boy. Instead of my boys though, I featured my little lady- who can be seen at times at the top of the boy pile. Thanks for your "brothers" post- I truy loved it! stephanie

I cracked up seeing the pics of your boys wrestling. Our youngest was tackling anyone within reach last night and my husband was all proud. Like you–I am SO GLAD I'm not a boy! πŸ™‚ Looks like you got the same snow we did…and yes, we will be THOROUGHLY sick of it in a few months. I only like it until Christmas and then it can go away. But it doesn't. Until April.

    Beautiful pics!

And let me say that I am relieved! My girls are two and a half years apart and my little one has taken to biting my older one, blood and all! She recently bit her on the cheek and it got infected…ow! You've given me some hope that we'll all eventually get through this!
