Vivi uses her words sparingly.
And in so doing, she manages exceedingly well to get her point across.
She’s been home barely three months and instead of ‘first words’, she’s moved right on to ‘first sentences’. First words are for sissies, according to Vivienne.
The other night she busted out with a six word sentence. Clear enough for all four of us in the room to understand:
“I no want Dalton… go ‘way!”
We all stared at each other. And then laughed in amazement.
Because she isn’t a Chatty Kathy, and she really only talks when she’s got something to say, I haven’t managed to capture a whole lot of her ‘conversing’ on video.
But I did manage to get a silly bit of her ‘chatting’ the other day. She’s even tossed in a goofy voice to boot. In the clip, she’s saying something about her beloved pillow…. whatever she’s saying, it’s adorable.
I’ve been asked so many times, “Does she speak English?” or “How does she communicate?” from well meaning folks who’ve learned Vivi just came home from China.
I’m thinkin’ that learning English is gonna be a non-issue our girl.

That was adorable. She is so cute, I just want to squeeze her! I love that her shoes squeaked! My son had a pair of those when he was younger.

I have been frustrated for the last 7 months or so with people asking me if Ewen speaks English or how well. I am so serious when I say that by 3 mos. being home, language was not an issue! After being home for 10 mos., I still get people asking me if he speaks English!!! I hope you don't have to answer those questions for much longer!

Just what every girl needs–a purse and squeaky shoes. I have people all the time ask-don't those shoes drive you nuts. I just think to myself that with every squeak I am reminded of the precious blessing that God has brought into my life. I will never tire of hearing them (well at least after only 5 months I am saying that 🙂

Beautiful!! I'm guessing she's around our daughter's age… 2 and a half. Our Caiya has been home almost a year! Isn't it amazing how they pick things up so very quickly???
