The other day we went on a picnic near the coast. Which is really just about 15 minutes from our house.
Have I mentioned that I love where we live?
So after fully stuffing our bellies with hamburgers and hot dogs, the water beckoned us.
We walked to the coastline to take in the view.
And everyone was most definitely enjoying the day.
When Chris has a long weekend off, everyone is happier.
Especially someone named me.
The kids loved watching the boats. And even more, being close to the water.
At least being as close as we’d let them get to the water.
Seven kids + water can equal utter chaos if you don’t monitor it very, very closely.
So we insisted that everyone keep their distance.
So we could keep our sanity.
Finding just the right rock and then proceeding to hurl it into the water seemed to make up for the fact that we wouldn’t let them get wet.
As did getting a chance to pet the biggest dog on the planet.
We even took a few mementos from our afternoon near the water. To remember the day.
And one day, to remember where we lived.
We’ve lived all over, but never some place quite like this.
And, until it’s time to pack up again, we’re going to enjoy it all we can.

What a nice place to live. Living by the water is always wonderful. Greg and I grew up in Virginia Beach and we miss seeing the ocean on a regular basis. Enjoy it!
Thanks for your nice comments about Daniel. I am just so sad about his loss. He has a strong family and they have a strong faith.
Blessings,
Jennifer

Beautiful – We've lived in the same place forever – but I've had TDY's all over – I'm thinking costal GA and Pac coast WA were two of my favs, never had the gulf coast (yet)! But – of all the places on earth (save China) the upper penn of MI was the most beautiful, the great lakes really do have it all over the ocean! I mean who cares how 'big' the water is – if it goes past the horizon!

Gorgeous! Your whole family is beautiful but I guess after following you since before Sophie came home, I get giddy when there is so much of the newest family member. Little Vivi just brings a smile to my face. The group pics are stunning. Are you using LR for post processing?

I love, love, love where you live!!! ๐

Gorgeous! I love love love New England! Would move back in a second, if ever given the chance! I love that you can be anywhere (city-country-water-mountains-wherever!) in no time at all. It's like its own little country! So happy you are enjoying it to its fullest, especially when you're not buried under lots of snow, which happens there, too!
All the best,
Nicole A. in OH (used to be in MA!)

I saw these photos when you posted them, then, yesterday, I saw the photo of a little boy who is being relinquished. He looked so familiar that I thought he must be the child of someone I knew. I came back here today (cause I stalk your blog) and looked at the first photo in this series, saw your Shepherd and realized that's who I thought little Isaac was. They're not a matched pair now that I'm comparing the photos, but the shape of the head and the skin tone and shape of the eyes really are similar. Now I can rest easy….the whole thing with thinking I knew the little boy was driving me crazy!
BTW, I love looking at your photos. They tell wonderful stories!

Aus – thank you for making my day! We are moving this summer from New England to the great lakes and I am so heartbroken to leave my salty sea air. Wonderful to know we'll have a new love when we get there!
