Sunday Snapshot: {speculation}

We’ve spent many hours in the last six months wondering about the little one that would eventually join our family. Especially in the last few weeks, it’s been a frequent topic of conversation.

But in the last few days, it’s been pretty much the only thing we talk about.

So, for fun, I thought I’d compose a list of our speculations on our future daughter and sister. I asked every one within earshot a few questions about her, to see who might come closest to the little one that might, just might, be revealed to us sometime in the next 12 hours.

And here are the results.

You’re welcome to add in your own guesses in the comment section… do I smell a giveaway?

On to our guesses…

Vivienne….

Age? Uh… da… Vivi? (pointing to her own picture)

What will she look like? Uh… fwee?

What should we call her? Uh… Asher.

Dalton…

Age? One and one month.

What will she look like? She’s gonna be tan like Vivi. And she’s gonna have black hair and black eyes. She will be 2 feet 6 inches. And 15 pounds.

What should we call her? Magnolia.

Sophie….

Age? Probably like one or two.

What will she look like? I think she’s gonna be a little bit like Vivi. A little bit like Vivi’s arms.

What should we call her? Emily.

Isabelle…

Age? Um. Fweee.

What will she look like? Um. A girl. A pweeetty girl.

What should we call her? Um. Lulu.

Shepherd…

Age? Umm… six.

What will she look like? Umm, like that dress. (pointing to Vivienne’s dress)

What should we call her? Hmmm. I thiiiiiink…. ummmm. How ’bout Mei?

Jude…
Age? One.
What will she look like? Like me.
What should we call her? Lilly. There’s a girl named Lilly. She’s at church. And I like her.

Asher…

Age? One. And three months.

What will she look like? Adorable-sauce. She might have clubfoot.

What should we call her? Magnolia. Maggie for short.

Chris… (who was clearly absent from our picture taking fiesta yesterday. Sorry, babe, but your stand-in is a lovely purple flower.)

Age? 10 months.

What will she look like? Chinese. *ha, ha, funny man* And her special need will be clubfoot.

What should we call her? Emme. Short for Emmeline.

Me…

Age? 14 months.

What will she look like? Beautiful. Not a whole lotta hair. Full lips. Special need of amniotic banding and a single clubfoot.

What should we call her? Well, see, I can’t quite decide. I have a list of favorites that changes hour to hour. Minute to minute, really. Y’alls name ideas rocked my world, and I read every. single. one. Some really good ones in there, y’all. I’m going to post a poll of our current top picks so y’all can weigh in… just know that we won’t necessarily be swayed by popular vote. We’re rebels like that.

Wow, exciting times! I recently found the predictions we'd done before we saw Maya's referral. We also predicted the province, which was fun. I found a website which talked about each of the provinces and what they were known for.

    So, I'm going to guess:
    age: 19 months
    Province: Yunnan
What she'll look like: A tow-headed little beauty with albinism
Name: I love the name Maggie, so I'll go with your kid's choice of Magnolia.

Can't wait to hear! Do you know exactly how the agencies go about that whole process? Do they get a list e-mailed to them? Does it include pictures? Can they lock more than one file at a time if more than one meets your criteria? It's got to be a little crazy.

"What will she look like? Beautiful. Not a whole lotta hair. Full lips. Special need of amniotic banding and a single clubfoot."

I was born with amniotic band syndrome. It really only effects the fingers on my left hand (which is why I insisted on a larger than not diamond ring and lots of sparkly). This comment just did something to my heart – in a good way.

    age: 20 months
what she'll look like: round face, sweet eyes, smile that captures her whole face, slightly tanned skin (and when she's older – I envision her looking as some of my Chinese students did when I taught in China)
name: olivia. or annabelle (bella for short). or andrea. or jaycee. or i could go on and on.

Her name? I have a new favorite as per your kiddos' suggestions!

Magnolia Mei, aka: Maggie May, like the Rod Stewart song! I LOVE this!

"Wake up Maggie, I think I've got something to say to you. It's late September and I really should be back in school…"

Obviously, she's gonna be cute and look like Jude (hee, hee) and she'll have those to-die-for full lips that'll melt Mama's heart. She'll be right around ten months and have club foot. Did I cover all my bases?

    She's gonna fit right in!

How about that? There's a girl from Fujian on my agency's SN list. She's got amniotic banding syndrome and a club foot. She's 2 in November. She's seriously one I would want to call Maggie for her round eyes and perfect lips. I've been drooling over her for weeks. Perhaps you've seen her. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you get a look at her. πŸ™‚ I do believe you can access my email, but if I'm wrong on that please reply and let me know.

I am going to say a little one from Jiangxi, around 14 months old, sn club foot and a head full of hair and rosy chubby cheeks and of course drop dead gorgoues! But I will say before I even read what your open to as far as special needs I did think albinism so that would be great as well.

"adorable-sauce?" – MY GOSH. I totally teared up at that. LOVE that big brother heart. Wow. HE sounds like my Shaggy. Is he a heart-slave to Vivi?

I'm thinking about 21 months old. Special need of limb deformity and/or clubfoot(feet). Bald. And a beautiful smile of anticipation at how much she will be loved, adored, and doted upon.

And just remember, it's not just the girls from Hunan that are spicy little ones πŸ™‚ πŸ™‚

    Sooooo excited.

OK, I have to agree with The Gang's Momma! Adorable-sauce is just too cute! What a sweet boy! I am going to guess 18 months, clubfoot and ABS (ya know I have a soft spot for those 2 sn's) and a beautiful little girl with dark eyes and lots of hair! As far as the name goes, I still like Virginia (Ginger) but I have to agree with Chris! Emmeline is my fav – not that I am partial or anything!! hehe!!

I'm thinking Hunan province, beautiful big brown eyes, precious round face with pouty lips. 9 months at referral and is a heart kiddo. What a blessing this child will be upon your family and your family to her. She'll jump right in and fit like she's been there from the very beginning! I can barely stand the wait! I cannot imagine what you're feeling…or maybe I'll feel the same in the (hopefully) near future! πŸ˜‰
