We’ve spent many hours in the last six months wondering about the little one that would eventually join our family. Especially in the last few weeks, it’s been a frequent topic of conversation.
But in the last few days, it’s been pretty much the only thing we talk about.
So, for fun, I thought I’d compose a list of our speculations on our future daughter and sister. I asked every one within earshot a few questions about her, to see who might come closest to the little one that might, just might, be revealed to us sometime in the next 12 hours.
And here are the results.
You’re welcome to add in your own guesses in the comment section… do I smell a giveaway?
On to our guesses…
Age? Uh… da… Vivi? (pointing to her own picture)
What will she look like? Uh… fwee?
What should we call her? Uh… Asher.
Age? One and one month.
What will she look like? She’s gonna be tan like Vivi. And she’s gonna have black hair and black eyes. She will be 2 feet 6 inches. And 15 pounds.
What should we call her? Magnolia.
Age? Probably like one or two.
What will she look like? I think she’s gonna be a little bit like Vivi. A little bit like Vivi’s arms.
What should we call her? Emily.
Age? Um. Fweee.
What will she look like? Um. A girl. A pweeetty girl.
What should we call her? Um. Lulu.
Age? Umm… six.
What will she look like? Umm, like that dress. (pointing to Vivienne’s dress)
What should we call her? Hmmm. I thiiiiiink…. ummmm. How ’bout Mei?
Age? One. And three months.
What will she look like? Adorable-sauce. She might have clubfoot.
What should we call her? Magnolia. Maggie for short.
Chris… (who was clearly absent from our picture taking fiesta yesterday. Sorry, babe, but your stand-in is a lovely purple flower.)
Age? 10 months.
What will she look like? Chinese. *ha, ha, funny man* And her special need will be clubfoot.
What should we call her? Emme. Short for Emmeline.
Age? 14 months.
What will she look like? Beautiful. Not a whole lotta hair. Full lips. Special need of amniotic banding and a single clubfoot.
What should we call her? Well, see, I can’t quite decide. I have a list of favorites that changes hour to hour. Minute to minute, really. Y’alls name ideas rocked my world, and I read every. single. one. Some really good ones in there, y’all. I’m going to post a poll of our current top picks so y’all can weigh in… just know that we won’t necessarily be swayed by popular vote. We’re rebels like that.
She ALREADY sounds perfect! I bet the whole crew is sitting on pins and needles. Thinking of you ALL often! Loving the updates! Keep em coming!

I love the guesses:) I also love the names Emily and Lulu. LOVE Lulu!
age: 15 mos
She will have a little hair sticking up:)
Special need…You know I have a heart for Clubfoot so, I have to say that.
I'm a Georgia girl so I want to agree with Dalton and Asher and go with Magnolia:)and call her Maggie…Love it!
I just can't wait to follow your journey to bring her home. Praying for her and your family during this time of expectation.

I love the name Magnolia! … and that it was suggested by both your bigger BOYS is so cool!
(and your two younger boys are so stinkin' cute I don't know how you ever tell them NO!–heehee!)
*Don't forget to reply for your choice of camera strap prize by the way 😉
I know you have other way BIGGER things on your mind!!
Hope your referral comes tomorrow!
Wow, exciting times! I recently found the predictions we'd done before we saw Maya's referral. We also predicted the province, which was fun. I found a website which talked about each of the provinces and what they were known for.
So, I'm going to guess:
age: 19 months
What she'll look like: A tow-headed little beauty with albinism
Name: I love the name Maggie, so I'll go with your kid's choice of Magnolia.
Can't wait to hear! Do you know exactly how the agencies go about that whole process? Do they get a list e-mailed to them? Does it include pictures? Can they lock more than one file at a time if more than one meets your criteria? It's got to be a little crazy.
This is the best kind of post…ever! One for the memory books. Love all the kiddo's answers (and pronunciations). Enjoy the ride!!

"What will she look like? Beautiful. Not a whole lotta hair. Full lips. Special need of amniotic banding and a single clubfoot."
I was born with amniotic band syndrome. It really only effects the fingers on my left hand (which is why I insisted on a larger than not diamond ring and lots of sparkly). This comment just did something to my heart – in a good way.
age: 20 months
what she'll look like: round face, sweet eyes, smile that captures her whole face, slightly tanned skin (and when she's older – I envision her looking as some of my Chinese students did when I taught in China)
name: olivia. or annabelle (bella for short). or andrea. or jaycee. or i could go on and on.
Ok, here goes…2 years old, heart condition..name I don't know. I like the name Reese, but you can't take that one…LOL! Still waiting for that post about sharing your heart with your husband!!
age: 17 months
beautiful, round face. rosy cheeks. special need: heart defect.
name: Emmeline (Emme)
Can't wait to find out who is revealed to you (and me).
Her name? I have a new favorite as per your kiddos' suggestions!
Magnolia Mei, aka: Maggie May, like the Rod Stewart song! I LOVE this!
"Wake up Maggie, I think I've got something to say to you. It's late September and I really should be back in school…"
Obviously, she's gonna be cute and look like Jude (hee, hee) and she'll have those to-die-for full lips that'll melt Mama's heart. She'll be right around ten months and have club foot. Did I cover all my bases?
She's gonna fit right in!
Age? 18 months
What will she look like? Beautiful! Gorgeous eyes and tiny. Special need: I'll go with a wild guess and say albinism.
What should we call her? Clementine.
How about that? There's a girl from Fujian on my agency's SN list. She's got amniotic banding syndrome and a club foot. She's 2 in November. She's seriously one I would want to call Maggie for her round eyes and perfect lips. I've been drooling over her for weeks. Perhaps you've seen her. Let me know if there's anything I can do to help you get a look at her. 🙂 I do believe you can access my email, but if I'm wrong on that please reply and let me know.
Love all of your kiddo's ideas. Whoever she is, she's gonna be one blessed lil' girl. She'd just better like crowds =).
Lost and Found says
Oh another Emme to spread the love. I'll say clubfoot or heart, age 2.
Can't wait to hear the news!
Love the kids' ideas. Specially Vivi's haha.
I still go for the name Norah haha =)
Mom to my China Posse says
I am going to say a little one from Jiangxi, around 14 months old, sn club foot and a head full of hair and rosy chubby cheeks and of course drop dead gorgoues! But I will say before I even read what your open to as far as special needs I did think albinism so that would be great as well.
a big shock of black hair
shanx or shaanxi
we are going forward as well and hope to have news soon:) (like this week!)
Daisy Dreams says
Hmmm, I will say around 22 months, very litle hair, a chubby round face with the special need missing digits/club foot.
The Gang's Momma! says
"adorable-sauce?" – MY GOSH. I totally teared up at that. LOVE that big brother heart. Wow. HE sounds like my Shaggy. Is he a heart-slave to Vivi?
I'm thinking about 21 months old. Special need of limb deformity and/or clubfoot(feet). Bald. And a beautiful smile of anticipation at how much she will be loved, adored, and doted upon.
And just remember, it's not just the girls from Hunan that are spicy little ones 🙂 🙂
OK, I have to agree with The Gang's Momma! Adorable-sauce is just too cute! What a sweet boy! I am going to guess 18 months, clubfoot and ABS (ya know I have a soft spot for those 2 sn's) and a beautiful little girl with dark eyes and lots of hair! As far as the name goes, I still like Virginia (Ginger) but I have to agree with Chris! Emmeline is my fav – not that I am partial or anything!! hehe!!
admittedly, I never get this stuff right, but here is my shot:
age: 18 months
a beautiful little girl with clubfoot or albanism
Love Love Love the name Emme
Can't wait to find out about the reality of your newest little one
Football and Fried Rice says
Oh my gosh – Shepherd, I love you. Really, I do.
This is a fun, fun game. You know, to keep all of our little minds occupied 😉
I think she will be 16 months old. Big brown eyes. Shaved head. Amniotic Banding (missing digits). A heart-stealer.
& I heart the name Magnolia/Maggie!!
Oh my! How adorable are your kiddos!?!?! The big boys have such a cute name! Magnolia, and with Mei is oh so cute! Maggie Mei. Melt my heart! I'm thinking Hunan province, beautiful big brown eyes, precious round face with pouty lips. 9 months at referral and is a heart kiddo. What a blessing this child will be upon your family and your family to her. She'll jump right in and fit like she's been there from the very beginning! I can barely stand the wait! I cannot imagine what you're feeling…or maybe I'll feel the same in the (hopefully) near future! 😉
Beautiful photos, I'm lovin' that barn as a backdrop 🙂 We did a poll like this before we got our referral – I lost big – to our kids 🙂
okay I just have to say how very much I LOVE the name Emmeline – and Emme for short – perfect perfect perfect with Vivienne! I know I don't get a vote, but if I did . . .
Ok ok i'll play along too.
I think she'll be around 13 months. She'll be paler with lots of hair (probably cut short though) with huge lovely eyes and thin lips. And big cheeks. Special need will be a heart defect. And she'll be from Jiangsu.
Also I LOVE that picture of Shep.
OH and her name will be Emmeline. 🙂
I am SO excited about your new addition. I, too, love the name Magnolia! I think she'll be 2 years old, and just beautiful!
What a fun, fun, fun, post!!
Whatever her name, her SN, her age, or what she looks like…she will be absolutely perfect for y'all!!!
Oh!My! This is way too exciting…how are you going to sleep, girl?????

OK – first – you.blogged.a.lot.this.weekend!! Do I sense a little stress in Stef this weekend? 😉
Loved the SS – and loved the name thing ya'll have going too…. I'm partial to B names – but I'm thinking Catherine or Katarina….but then reading that "Maggie" and Stef's wishes for something a little less unusual….
Margaret (aka Maggie)
Prayers for your being matched!
hugs – aus and co.
Love the name Emmaline!! That is a keeper..
I think she will be 10 mths, have a limb difference, or club foot maybe…no hair or very little. Can't wait to hear more.
Chelsea Gour says
I'll take a guess here! 13 months right now. Very little hair. Heart defect. My brother-in-law had a cat named Magnolia, called Maggie. So, I'll agree with Chris on the Emmeline name! Old fashion, Classy, sweet southern name.
Too Fun!! I am guessing Magnolia Mai too. Maggie May how can you not call her that! Maybe clubfoot but I am leaning toward a sis like Vivi. Can't wait to hear!!! Sheri
Freckles & Dimples Photography says
I think Dalton's choice of Magnolia is simply delightful!
Farm Girl in MD says
I say 11 months…and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the name Emmeline!!
Oh how this made me smile… Our little one shave a lot of thoughts, ideas and plans for our family… I always love to hear what is on their sweet little hearts concerning a new sibling for themselves:)
COngrats on your referral!

I thought I had left a message but I can't find it. I did vote for "Emmeline" though! 😉 Your photos of your children are just fabulous! Of course, they are all so beautiful, too. I enjoy your blog so much.
