Sunday Snapshot: {fall in New England}

It’s fall.

And we live in New England.

Hence the title of this Sunday Snapshot.

But as I mentioned last week, we won’t be here for too much longer.

When we moved here, a year and a half ago, we knew it was a two year assignment.

Which means we’re about six months away from our next move.

Give or take a few months.

So we’re squeezing everything we can out of our time here.

Since we’ve been here, there are several things we’ve been told we should not miss.

One was eating lobster.

Another was visiting the Rocky Coast.

And another was driving the Kancamangus Highway in fall.

We have now successfully completed two out of three.

A few of us just don’t like seafood, okay?

Anyway, now we’ve driven the Kancamangus Highway in fall.

And it was absolutely worth the effort.

I think the kids might even appreciate the beauty of this area.

Okay, some of the kids appreciate it.

I know these two sure did.

That, and the fact that their dad let them play his iPad on the way up to the White Mountains.

Me? I did this just about the whole time.

Seriously.

Every time I turned my camera off and put the lens cap back on, we’d go around a bend…

and see a view like this.

Or this.

A few times we stopped and got out for a quick stretch.

And some pictures.

Here and there.

And then we said goodbye to the mountains, and the water, and headed back home.

And emptied the contents of two Circle K hot dog cases feeding our crew.

Beats lobster any day.

If you’d like to participate in Sunday Snapshot this week, just copy the code under the Snapshot button and paste it into the body of your Snapshot post where you’d like the button to be displayed.

Once you hit ‘publish’ it should show up just fine ๐Ÿ™‚

Then add your link below. And don’t worry if your number doesn’t show up. For some reason, you can’t see your own number. But it is there.

Happy Sunday, y’all!

Absolutely beautiful! Thanks for sharing the views. I'm wondering where you will be stationed next. I'm also wondering if we will meet up in China this time. Have a blessed Sunday.

Great photos. I drove through the Notch yesterday to see my sister in Franconia. The rains took down a lot of the reds now and there was some snow high on the mountains-couldn't tell with Lafayette because it was under cloud cover both ways, and it rained all the way. The Kanc, by the way, has no "n" in the word-people just insert that when saying it. But you're right, it is a beautiful drive. Hope your next assignment is just as lovely when you get it.

We live in the midwest but we drove the Kancamangus trail 2 years ago this month. Absolutely incredible! And you captured on camera SO well. I remember many of the spots you posted. AHHHHHH.

For some unknown reason (unknown to me anyway) the color in northern Illinois has NOT been pretty this fall. Weather, I'm assuming.

    Thanks for sharing your pics.

Gorgeous! Simply gorgeous! Funny how when we all get down to the 6 month mark we realize how quickly those movers are going to be pulling up in the driveway! We've been doing the same thing as we are 6 months and counting as well from wherever they are sending us next…I have zero preparation for that as my brain is in China right now..I know you can relate!

Stunning photos! I've always hoped to go to New England in fall…guess that's one for my bucket list. Can't relate to the moving as I've lived in the same midwestern state my whole life. Sure enjoyed living it through your lens, though.

Oh Stefanie – this post is a bit sentimental for me. As I might have mentioned to you my mom grew up in New England (my brother and I were born in CT). Her favorite New England thing to do later in her life was to drive the Kancamangus Highway with her sisters. They did it a few times while she was sick and she just found such peace tranquility and God's presence.

Thanks for the post – it means a lot to have glimpses of her through other people!

    Blessings, Ashley

GEORGEOUS!! I've never been to that part of the country, even though my Dad was born in Boston. Looks like this is the time of year to do it. Love all of the photos of the kiddos, too.

WOW – you did some really great work this weekend!! And I really wonder sometimes what things would look like if I wasn't looking through a camera lens! In fact – it's become soo addictive for Marie….she had right side rotator cuff surgery a few weeks ago – and figured out a way to work the Nikon left hand only! ๐Ÿ˜‰

    hugs – aus and co.

Stunning colors–everyday the leaves become bolder and more colorful even here in the South. I bet it takes your breath away just driving down the street up there!

I was blessed to be in that neck of the woods two glorious fall seasons in a row when my mom had business up there. I've never seen such beauty in the leaves anywhere else in the world. So glad that you guys were able to embrace the day!

I have enjoyed reading your blog over the last few days. I am a first time visitor and have truly been inspired but what God can do with us ordinary people when we chose to follow HIM! ๐Ÿ™‚ I thought for sure that I had seen somewhere on your blog that there was a Esther study that a group of women were going to be doing together and yet I didn't see it when I came back to your blog tonight. I may have seen it on a different blog but I thought for sure it was yours…If I'm not losing my mind, please let me know ๐Ÿ™‚
