catching up

Oh my.

Is it Saturday already?

My kids were on spring break this week, so it’s been a little… ahem, busy around my house.

Insane might be a better word. Plungers were used. Dog vomit was extracted. Band-aids were applied.

Pretty much what you’d expect with a house this full. And some uncooperative weather.

This year we opted not to do a whole lot for spring break. Not a lotta dough to go on a vacation. Not a lotta time for Chris to take off work.

But we did have some fun. Made a ridiculous contraption with scissors, crayons, three rolls of tape, a skateboard and a huge cardboard box. Played outside (when the weather relented) until we were dirty from head to toe. Drank lots and lots of cherry Kool-Aid. Watched “How to Train Your Dragon” three times. And broke in a new box of Apples to Apples.

Good thing the bar is set pretty low around here. Leaves a lot more room for doing things that Jesus wants us to do.

And – just in time for Easter – look who is home?

I soooo love having my biggest boy home.

Counting my blessings this Easter.

Revving up for some serious egg-stuffing, church-going, and Pioneer Woman’s sweet-potato making in the next 24 hours. As well as some precious reflection on the true meaning of Easter.

P.S. I am looking for a few of y’all who have donated. If you’ve donated, but haven’t heard from me, or do not have your numbers yet, please contact me.

I wore my t-shirt today when we announced (to our family) that we are adopting from China. 🙂

I know how happy you are to have your oldest son home! Tell me, do his eyes still look the same as when you looked into them the first time? My oldest son is 24, married with family, and when I look into this young man’s eyes…I still see that sweet infant boys eyes looking back at me. It will never change for me. He will always be my baby with the gentle trusting eyes that stole my heart. Makes me even more in awe of God for how he gave his son, Jesus, to pay the price for our sins…Being a parent makes you see things in a new light. Happy Easter to you and your beautiful Family -Joy
