I’ve shared a few reasons why we love living here.
One more reason? Our neighbors.
They are a retired couple with huge hearts.
Kathy, the wife, is a life-long horse lover. And the husband, Jack, loves to make his wife happy.
The combination makes for some pretty amazing folks to having living just on the other side of your pasture.
They’ve got a beautiful place, over 10 acres, with a custom built barn fully outfitted for their three equines. Just a smidge bigger than ours.
She offered to let us use her little 12 hand Welsh pony, Elliott, for some beginner riding lessons for our kiddos.
I think the pictures tell the story.
We all had a great time. It made me smile big to see my kiddos on the back of a pony.
Other than riding a schooling pony for a turn around the ring at a carnival, neither Dalton or Sophie have spent much time on the back of a pony.
Like none.
But Elliott was the perfect gentleman.
After each took several spins around the ring at a very, very slow pace – as neither has boots yet, but we were able to borrow helmets – we finished up.
We groomed Elliott again and fed him our little bag of baby carrots as fast as he could manage.
Then we turned Elliott back out with his buddies, and we headed back home.
After a quick stop to play on the neighbors hammock.
With neighbors like this, we may never leave.

I loooove your pictures of your kiddos riding. They are priceless. I used to live on a racehorse farm in Maine…so horses have a special place in my heart. I am so glad that you are getting to enjoy horses at your new home. You are making such incredible memories with your children.
I am so happy for your kids. How cool is it to have a neighbor like that? LOVE that! Their barn sounds awesome and the horse (or pony) is fantastic! I love it!
I also love the kids smiles. I could hear your smile in the typing. What a beautiful day : )

How awesome! My kiddos would never leave that place! ๐ What a blessing to be living by such great neighbors!!!
When my daughter was in the service, I told her ,”no matter where you are, find a grandma and grandpa. They will take care of you. She always did. Seems like you have found yours.
What amazing neighbors indeed! Those pictures are so sweet. I especially love the last one it looks like the perfect ending to a wonderful day!
What a delightful time- I know my kids would certainly enjoy that. In our last neighborhood we had neighbors next door that were like an extra set of grandparents to our kids- it was so nice. We really miss them.
Wonderful pictures!!
I’m a new follower and linking up to Sunday Snapshot today.

glad you have sweet neighbors… that makes life sweeter when your neighbors are pleasant
I have always loved horses. I hope to one day either have one for our family or access to someone who does. I would love for my children to learn the basics of riding. What a blessing! God is so sweet.
