daniel plan: 4 months later

Told y’all I’d keep you updated.

Today marks 4 months.

4 months since Chris, Asher and I, along with our entire church, went on the Daniel Fast.

Asher – days before we started the fast

Not gonna lie, those first days were hard. No coffee, no sugar, no preservatives. Pretty much no nothin’.

But God showed up in a huge way, and we all managed to finish out the three weeks without killing ourselves or each other.

Asher – 2 weeks in

After the 21 day fast, Asher and I decided to start the Daniel Plan – a modification of the fast.

And we started exercising, a non-negotiable part of the Daniel Plan.

Asher – 4 weeks in

*ouch*

But it was a good thing, for both of us.

Asher – 9 weeks in

We’ve both found our least detestable favorite ways to exercise.

And our favorite healthy foods.

Asher – 17 weeks in

And here we are, 4 months later. It’s been such a journey.

I am so proud of my boy (who graciously allowed me to use his pictures to illustrate).

He has changed so much, it’s hard to accurately capture it in pictures.

He’s grown over an inch. Has lost 18 pounds. And has a whole different outlook on exercise, eating and honoring God with his body.

Me? I haven’t grown at all, believe it or not. But I have lost 13 pounds. And I might *possibly* be able to wear a sleeveless shirt come summer.

We’re going to continue on with this new and oh-so-different lifestyle. We’ve finally settled into a comfortable rhythm.

And other than missing chocolate like crazy for one week every month, and wishing I had a completely different metabolism, there really isn’t anything I’d want to change.

To be honest, is the first time I’ve ever tried to work out and eat healthier for a purpose other than shaping up and/or losing weight. Our goal, from the beginning, was to be obedient to God and follow His promptings to take better care of ourselves and the one and only – love it or not – body He’s blessed us with.

And God makes all the difference.

Amazing! He looks great! I also participated in the Daniel 21 day fast in Jan. and felt great. Unfortunately, I went back to my old habits and need to start it again. So great that you have continued in the new way! To God be the Glory!

This is incredible. He doesn’t even look like the same child!!! I’m having a total renewed spirit for exercise as well… I’m actually running a half marathon in November. And I’m with you — I feel like I’m doing it for the right reasons this time. I mean, a momma of 5 littles has to blow off some steam somehow… 🙂

That is so fantastic! It’s amazing how food can really change our bodies – both negatively and positively! It’s like having a car, you wouldn’t put dirty gasoline into it and expect it to run but we so often eat junky food and expect our bodies to run the same!

God TRULY does make all the difference. I’ve found that He’s the only reason. A great book to read is, “Made To Crave”.

What an inspiration!!! Congratulations to both for you for your successes!!! I know how hard it is. We have had to be on very very strict diets for health reasons over the years and although we did not begin the diets it with the intention of honoring God…it took a surrendering and reliance on Him for sure. HE does make all the difference.

I am forced to re-embark on those old strict eating habits for some health reasons again and this reminded me where to find my strength as it is such a challenge somedays. 12 pounds is exactly what I would like to lose as a result of my new/old ways.

I love this. I love your motivation. It’s so much better than wanting to look good or even to feel good. It’s so much better. It’s such a higher and more honorable purpose. Just wanted to say that.

We just started The Daniel Fast. Our pastor challenged our church to fast for 40 days and pray for the outpouring of the Holy Spirit. We are on day 3 of our fast. I am craving some Dr. Pepper, but I know God will reveal great things. Blessings
