Bringing Tallula home has, in a lot of ways, been difficult for Poppy.
Although it didn’t show up all the time, every day, she just hasn’t been her usual smiley, happy-go-lucky self.
She’s been occasionally broody. And serious. And kinda-sorta ticked off.
And she let me know, sister or not, that she wasn’t very happy with me for bringing this new person into our home.
Of course, this was completely understandable.
She’s been usurped.
Displaced.
No longer the baby of the family.
And Tallula is no shrinking violet.
She hasn’t made it easy for Poppy to go gently into her new not-the-baby-any-longer niche.
The competition around here is fierce between these two. If Poppy has something, Tallula wants it. If Tallula does something, Poppy wants to do it, too.
You get the picture.
Add potty training to the above scenario and, well… that’s what it’s like to be me lately.
Poppy is finding her smile again.
She is finding her voice again.
And she has decided that maybe having a little sister is okay. Sometimes.
And it’s a beautiful thing.

That smile! And those eyes! So happy to hear that sweet Poppy is adjusting. That little girl has definitely captured my heart from afar. There’s just something about that sweet face!

Aww. I had a feeling it would be hard, but I knew you all would get through it with Grace! They will end up being best buds one day for sure! Can’t wait to read all about the “twins” antics!

Poppy is sooooo beautiful! You captured such amazing moments. And it’s awesome that she smiles again. A child shouldn’t stay serious for too long. ๐

Oh goodness! This brings back memories of bringing Lily home. The dynamics between her and my Sophie were, like your two, polar opposites. There were some hard days, but like you mentioned, EVENTUALLY they realized being sisters was pretty cool. Now, there opposite personalities make them the best of playmates together. They love each other and are truly best friends! Beautiful pics, and so thankfully you are finally seeing some progress. ๐

Awwww, of course she’s feeling usurped. But I’m guessing that when they find their way and things settle in fully, they will be best of friends forever… We’re already praying over similar transitions for our Li’l Empress. Having her big brother / hero / first love gone for the brunt of the adjustment is NOT how we planned for it but God knows…..
