Slowly but surely, I’m knocking out the school pictures for this year.
Four down, two more to go.
This Sunday Snapshot is all about my girls. My big-but-smaller-than-their-oldest-sister girls. My small-but-bigger-than-their-younger-sisters girls.
You get the idea.
Here’s Miss Sophie Lu.
Mom: What is your favorite thing about 3rd grade?
Sophie: That I can get bucks, like in reading and math, and if you’ve done all the work and haven’t been playing around I get two stamps and two stamps equal a buck. But if you’ve been talking then you only get one stamp and usually if you get one stamp the teacher would have to write on your card like, “Talking” or “Incomplete” or something like that unless you’ve done like a lot of work or something like that. Whenever we have extra time the teacher will tell us how many bucks we have and there’s this chart that tells us how much we can get with our bucks and how much we have to pay and Mrs. Morrison keeps track of ’em. You can buy things like “Art Helper” or “Tea with Mrs. Flynn”. Right now I’m trying to get “Office Helper”.
Mom: You go get those bucks, girl.
Mom: What’s your least favorite thing about 3rd grade?
Sophie: Huh. Probably social studies. Because, um… when she tells us to do something usually it’s work and she has to tell us to like outline our answers and um, she sometimes she reads this paragraph and we have to answer questions in our social studies book. And usually I get the wrong answers.
Mom: What do you want to be when you grow up?
Sophie: Ummmm, an art teacher. Because I usually like drawing. I want to be a teacher and I like art so I decided to put them together.
Mom: What is your favorite thing about 2nd grade?
Isabelle: I like the gym. Because you can play and run around and throw stuff. My teacher never lets us run in the classroom.
Mom: *silently thanking God for the gym at school*
Mom: What’s your least favorite thing about 2nd grade?
Isabelle: To sit and read. I like to read but I can’t do any crafts and stuff when I have to sit and read. But I like to read but only when I can’t do any fun stuff.
Mom: What do you want to be when you grow up?
Isabelle: An ice scultptor-maker. Because I can make a snowball, of course. Everybody can do that. I want to make something cool out of ice. Like a mermaid. Or my family.
Mom: And I will be your first customer, my little ice sculptor-maker.
I used my Nikon D90 and 24-70mm f/2.8 lens. My settings for these were ISO 400 f/2.8 and 1/100 – 1/250. I edited them all in CS6 where I used various and sundry Florabella actions.

Ice sculptor maker? I love it!! And social studies…I agree, yuck.
Such beautiful clear tones in these happy photos. I really like how you’ve got the kids answering questions for each year – really sweet idea.
Beautiful pictures! I especially love Isabelle’s dress! 🙂
sounds like all the normal likes and dislikes of the little ones!
Beautiful pictures of your sweet girls – The background with the blurred leaves makes the pictures soft & dreamy!
Lovely how both of your daughters like art and creativity!
Plum/magenta is definitely her color. 🙂
These are stunning Stefanie! Who needs those silly school pictures when you have a mama that is amazing behind the camera?!
Well aren’t they just so beautiful & growing up so fast!
I love Sophie’s complicated answer about the bucks! I can remember rewards systems just like that when I was in grade school. I was just like Sophie, figuring out how to maximize my bucks so I could get that coveted prize! Beautiful photos, and a beautiful family.
These are awesome photos! I really admire your creativity and ability to capture and present such great images of your children. They are so cute anyway but your abilities show us their personality and sweetness. They inspire us as well!!! Thanks
Beautiful!
