Sunday Snapshot: my kitchen counter

I woke up this morning wondering what I was going to post for my Sunday Snapshot.

Because there is so much going on.

But so little to show for it. At least for the time being.

And then I walked into my kitchen and it dawned on me.

My kitchen counter is a microcosm of my life right now. Basically sums up all that is going on – and alternately what is not going on – in mi casa.

counter-2

Frog Tape and level – the chevron wall we’re attempting in the big boys’ room
cordless drill – hanging stuff all over the house
roller, paint and stirrers – big boys’ room and little boys’ room are currently under construction (note: do not let your 9 year old select paint supplies, cheap rollers are not the way to go)
mail – completely unopened
twist-tie – potentially useful
napkins – life with this many kids is messy
packing tape – my ER solution for the kids’ board games that didn’t take the move well
spackle – spackle, how I love you – you cover my wall hanging mistakes so perfectly

counter-3

And that pretty much sums up last week.

Asher and Dalton decided on Monday that they were ready to roll on their room re-do, despite the fact that I had many, many other things to do. I (possibly foolishly) figured I’d jump on it while they were so intent on helping.

We devised a half-baked plan and got going sanding, priming and painting their wood furniture black – the furniture they’ve used since forever. Then we painted their room – Martha Stewart cement – and began the misery drudgery mind-numbing task of working out a chevron pattern on their wall.

It’s been quite a week.

counter-1

Seamus concurs.

Hope to have some “after” shots for y’all soon.

When you’re ready to play along, be sure to visit here for the full scoop.

To link up this week with your Sunday Snapshot, just copy the code under the Snapshot button and paste it into the body of your post where you’d like the button to be displayed.

The joys of moving. Oh my! I hope that everything continues to flow along nicely! I LOVE spackle also. I keep meaning to get some out and go to town on all of our picture hanging mishaps. Thanks for this reminder ; ). Have a happy week. Love, Becky

Seamus looks like i feel! I feel you Seamus!!! 🙂 All I can say is I relate, except we haven’t officially moved. We are living b/t our camper at our “new” place (mostly gutted now) and our current home, that is already under contract. Oh and our baby girl is having OHS in 9 days. PHEW! I feel ya!

Can I ask a nosy question? Are your children starting a new school with just weeks left? I know, nosy, so feel free to ignore. It is just I’m thinking on these things lately more. 🙂

Yes, new school for Shep, Jude, Isabelle and Sophie. Dalton began homeschooling with this move, though. We had decided to pull him out at the end of this year, so it was just a few months early 🙂

Congrats on your new place! It’s gorgeous, I’m so happy for y’all Leslie… God is so amazing!!

I agree… the kitchen counter tells it all!

And Seamus… he is awesome except when he runs away! He sure is good with the camera! I think he has a carer in modeling!

You are awesome at moving… I bet you don’t have every drawer a junk drawer… I think I need to move!
(except when I do I seem to bring all the junk with me.. and yes, that will be a future post!)

Morning Stef – Seamus’ expression pretty much sums up how I feel about all those kind of projects – mostly just relief when it’s done! 😉

    hugs – aus and co.

my son wanted the cement colored walls in face he said make it airstream silver. Now he is at college and my girl moved in there. We just made it Paris/eiffel tower themed….

Happy Decorating and unpacking it will be totally awesome in the end.
