1 1/2 years old

Jude turned 18 months old this week. Since we weren’t able to celebrate his first birthday with him, we decided to celebrate this day, his 1 1/2 year birthday. We had a special dinner, flank steak and potatoes, and no, Jude didn’t eat any. He seems to be content for now living strictly on GoGurt, noodles, banana and an occasional Cheerio.
After dinner we pulled out the seriously choclatey cake we’d baked, lit the candles and placed it in front of our sweet boy. He wasn’t quite sure what to do and eventually his brothers ended up blowing out the candles so they wouldn’t melt into a puddle of wax on top of the cake. Jude did enjoy the eating part of the cake and, after subtracting all the icing on his face and cake spilled on the floor, he probably downed about 1 tablespoon of cake.
In celebration of his big day, here are some things you may, or may not, know about Jude…
His favorite food is (big surprise!) Ramen noodles and he can eat an entire pack by himself

He refuses to try most foods we are eating, and completely snubs a Chicken nugget

He loves to drink anything out of a straw, his favorite is a fountain Sprite

He still won’t take a bottle, and I have tried everything I can think of!

He loves his mama, I would say we are in the ‘anxiously attached’ phase, but things are definitely getting better

He can string beads

He is learning to pull to stand in his casts ๐Ÿ™‚

He has mesmerized Isabelle, she actually LIKES him!

He can wear a hole in a pair of socks in one day

He signs “more” “please” and “all gone”

He counts to three in Chinese

He loves to ‘dance’ but only to songs HE chooses

He kicks his casts together as he is falling asleep

He can throw a pretty mean temper tantrum, but they only last a matter of seconds

He knows when he’s naughty and he loves it

He says “bye bye” “night night” and “mama”

He loves the dog and follows her around the house

He gives me hugs and kisses when we’re laying down to go to sleep

If you’ve read this far, you must be my mom. (Love you, Mom!!) More to follow….

Wow Stef… I’m just amazed. I can’t believe it seems he’s just been a part of your family forever. Can’t wait to meet him one day, he can teach me to count to 3 in Chinese! (I don’t even know ONE!)…

And I’m not your mom, but I read the whole post too :O)

It is so great that you remember small celebrations like these. And, like Kris, I read the whole post too even though I’m not your mom ๐Ÿ™‚ I loved hearing about all of Jude’s “Can-Do’s”. On the days when you feel like it’s all unraveling with a large family (I have five, nearly six) the focus on ALL the great positives is a definite mood lifter! So glad you shared with me/us!!

Jude is so cute & looks so much at home already! It’s these moments that really make it all special!
    Happy 1.5 Jude!!

    HUGS…
