The girls and I spent some time today going through their “China things”.
We had to be sure to keep little hands out, so we snuck went up to their room and closed the door behind us.
Then we pulled out all their keepsakes and special things from China.
Sophie and Isabelle were all smiles.
They love afternoons like this.
Asking lots and lots of questions.
Learning more about China.
And exactly how they came into our family.
Pouring over things that represent their past.
And reveal how much they’ve grown.
Things that remind them of where they come from.
The place a part of their heart will always remain.
China.

I'm still trying to find a way to meaningfully put together all our pictures, momentos and "stuff" from our trip with Li'l Empress. Right now, they're all together in a box in my closet. I really ought to get on that soon. And maybe I should clean my closet while I'm at it!!!
Great pics – those girls are so adorable. Such beautiful smiles lighting up!

Beautiful! We have a memory box like this and the funny thing is that I just pulled out Lilah's Chinese tiger hat and got a few shots of her wearing it this past week too! AND blogged about it, lol!
I love these positive Chinese talks and visual memories, Lilah LOVES to talk and hear stories about China too!

Oh, such an important activity. A perfect way to connect, remember, heal, love and grow. (Thank you – I must do that more often.)
Have a great week!

Lizzie loves looking at her videos and pictures from China. We also keep all of the things that she came to us with in a box in her closet. She loves going through her "stuff" too. Very important!

Well – as always – great snaps! We've acutally gone to the point of making dups of a number of pics from our kids China / Korea trips so that they can have a book for 'daily use' as well as one that is put away for 'forever'!
hugs – aus and co.

I love doing stuff like this. We recently cleaned out our basement and went through things of our past and our China trips. Such great memories.
I am sure the girls really enjoyed this.

What a sweet time shared between mother and daughters. I so look forward to the day that we are able to get our stuff out of storage and spend quiet afternoons doing the same.

Stefanie – everyone always has such great comments and ideas after your posts. I was wondering if you could throw a question out to them for me? It's concerning separation anxiety in my 4.5 yr old who came home at 2.5 yrs old. She's asking tons of China questions, but with that comes anxiety. Not wanting to go to bed because Mommy is awake, not wanting to go to daycare after the weekend, etc. I understand if you don't want to turn into a forum, but I thought it would be a good topic to throw out there. I love how you spent the afternoon with just the girls bonding. I do this with Sam and thought I was maybe overdoing it but I see so many Moms out there doing the same thing. Thanks! Stacy in Boston

Just found your blog and I love it – going to be following you for sure – I'll also be adding your button to my photo challenge page. I will do my best to participate but I know that others look on that page to see what's out there and might inspire some folks to share their snapshots.
If you have a chance, I'd love for you to come check out my blog: http://ashleysisk.blogspot.com
have a great day!

Hey there – I so love what you do with Sunday Snapshot. I'm going to borrow your technology you used and create something myself. I am going to do a Thursday Things to Pray For starting this week–wanted to post my prayer requests for my own memory of them and to have people join me. Then, I thought it would be a great way to pray for each other. Hope you don't mind me stealing your idea!

So important for our little ones (well, and not so little ones) to have the opportunity to reflect on their origins. I have one daughter who doesn't show an interest in her beginnings (or China for that matter) and one who talks a lot about China, the orphanage, and her adoption. She craves information and enjoys seeing things from China.

That is fabulous! We need to dig our stuff out more often…hard to balance keeping some things "safe" so they will be available for the future with also making sure we use them sometimes!
