Sophie – day one of grade one

So far, so good.

First day down… the kids have gone and come home again… and no tears.

The kids didn’t cry either.

In fact, Sophie left for school, spent 7 hours at school, came home from school, and other than being ridiculously hot and sweaty (hello 95 degrees, where you been all summer and could you go back where you came from) she still had this big ol’ grin plastered on her face.

Her greatest joy of the first day of school? That she gets to participate in art and have recess.

Every day.

When I asked her if she missed me, she hesitated for just a second.

And said, “No.”

Which is a really, really good thing.

P.S. More kiddos coming up. Thought everyone deserved their very own post.

    Bittersweet, ain't it??

With a smile like that, I'd say Miss Spphie likes school a lot. And that's a good thing!!!

A message from Brinley to Sophie: Dear Sophie, I'm glad you had fun at school today. I don't think you remember me and I don't remember you but we were together in China. I'm glad you were my friend while we lived in China. Love, Brinley (but you called me YaYa in China.)

So sweet. She looks at blogs with me and wanted to send a message to her friend. 🙂

It is a bit bittersweet when they tell you they didn't miss you and yet you feel grateful that they are confident and happy enough to be on their own. She looks adorable.

Sophie has a winning smile. I mean, all day in school in 95 degree heat in long pants and still she looks so fresh and adorable!
Wonderful that she enjoyed school enough not to miss you. I suspect it speaks volumes of her confidence in your unfailing love.

Love the look – love the family – and love the little fib too – I'm thinking she missed her mom!
