what sick looks like

Asher is still sick.

The rest of us? Are mostly recovered. I say mostly because there is a bit of the gastrointestinal portion of this sickness that continues to linger.

But enough about me.

Asher started back to school on Monday and seemed to be doing okay in the morning. But when he came home from school, a very pale shade of fresh moss, and coughing like a 3-pack a day smoker, I worried.

And I called the doctor.

Tuesday morning came very early and brought with it a heavy rain shower. Chris My hero swooped in to save me from hauling a passel of bleary-eyed, sure-to-get-wet kids to an 8:15 doctor appointment.

He called about an hour later with the news that Asher has pneumonia.

The two of them arrived home with a Rx for antibiotics and doctors orders: “He needs to stay home until he’s feeling better… at least for the rest of the week.”

Awwww. Poor Asher.

He’ll have to miss all that fun at school….

6:45 wake up,

lukewarm sandwich and crunched chips for lunch,

and stay home.

And try to find something to keep him busy.

Comfortably nestled on the couch in front of the TV.

Is it just me, or was being sick and stuck at home soooooo not like this when you were a kid?

My sick days involved watching Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street and then falling asleep during The Joy of Painting. Good 'ole PBS. Those were the sick days before cable TV was invented. I guess it was better than walking uphill in a snow storm with no boots to get to school. πŸ˜‰

I just got over pneumonia. Though I didn't know I had that when I was my sickest. Only diagnosed a few days after I was feeling better.

My daughter just got over strep. Ewewwoohh

It was endless episodes of Price is Right and dumb soap operas. That is what being sick in 'my day' was like.

We rarely got to stay home from school. My mom required a near death experience before we got a day on the couch πŸ™‚

Poor thing! Hope he feels better soon. Most of my sick days were spent at my grandparents' house because my mom was a school teacher. It was nice because they had cable. πŸ™‚

Hope he gets better soon! Looks like he is pretty comfy in the meantime! (Pneumonia can linger for what seems like forever, so even if he is looking better and feeling better, he needs to take it easy for awhile, get lots of rest, and not get too winded – I'm not a doctor, but unfortunately have experience with pneumonia!)

    Have a great weekend!

    All the best,
    Nicole A., now in LA

Hope Asher is on the mend soon. He looks like he found himself a cozy place to recuperate.

Hope he is feeling better soon. Of course, this reveals my age but when I was sick at home we didn't even have cable and alot of TV was in black and white! lol

Hope Asher feels better soon – I don't know what it is this year, but I have been hearing about a LOT of kids getting pneumonia – mine included! With fall and winter just beginning I hope this isn't the start of a bad flu season!

So sorry to hear this sad news. Its been 4 years, but M got pneumonia twice one winter and it was sure a scary experience. Hope he feels better soon – but don't push it, cause that disease will come back with a vengence.

Oh my gosh, so sorry to hear about Asher…I agree with Stacy, don't rush it…let him chill for as long as he needs to! Sounds like he's very comfy cozy while recup-ing!

Yeah…when I was sick it was me on the couch in front of a B&W tv with maybe 4 channels…times have changed!! lol!
