a few of my favorite things

I like a lot of things.

But there are very few that I love.

And, especially at this gift-buying time of year, I can’t get enough of hearing what other folks love, too. In fact, I could be possibly referred to as a review freak… I am much more interested in others’ reviews of an item than what the actual manufacturer has to say about it.

So, what are your favorite things?

Here are a few of mine. Actually, these are the only things that came to mind, which is either really sad or really wonderful. Seems that I am a woman of few loves.

Either that, or I’ve been living under a rock for way too long.

_______________________________________________________

1. Bath and Body Works Mentha Lip Gloss

Introduced to these by my darling daughter, Victoria. I am a confirmed lip-stuff addict, always have a tube or two of something in my purse. This product quickly replaced every other wanna-be lip potion. It’s minty without being overwhelming. It adds color without a big color commitment. And it’s substantial without being gloopy. And when it’s on sale, it’s $3.75.

_______________________________________________________

2. Bath and Body Works Twisted Peppermint Lotion

And while I’m talking about Bath and Body Works, I cannot NOT mention their Twisted Peppermint Lotion. Especially in the winter, I am completely crazy for this stuff. I keep a bottle in the side compartment of my car and put it on every time I get in…. which is about the longest I ever go without having to wash my hands.

_______________________________________________________

3. Joico K-Pak Protective Hairspray

Stumbled across this gem, amazingly, on my own. It was recommended by a stylist when I was in the market for something to hold my ‘do, and not completely fry it in the process. Have used it for years and continue to love it. Does it’s job beautifully as a hairspray, but won’t make your hair crack off in your brush when you try to comb it out. And *gasp* smells good, too.

_______________________________________________________

4. Mary Kay Brow Definer in Classic Blonde

In 1989, it dawned on me that I needed to wear eyebrow pencil. It was an ugly day. Truth was – whether I wanted to admit it or not – my pale coloring left my brows existent, but invisible. Many, many (oh so very many) eyebrow-pencil mistakes later, I found this Mary Kay Pencil in Classic Blonde. And I am nutty for it. It’s been good to me.

_______________________________________________________

5. Ion Extreme Moisture Creme

As a long time hair-color-experimenter, my hair has always paid the price. Dry. Split ends. Flyaway. But, on a trip into Sally’s Beauty, desperate for something to really, really work, I found this. For y’all with hair that doesn’t need to be in the Follicular-ICU, you could probably just use it occasionally. I use it every time I shampoo. And I’d use it more often if I could find an excuse.

_______________________________________________________

6. Burberry by Burberry Perfume

I have issues with perfume. Seems that a scent can smell positively wondrous in the bottle – or on someone else – but as soon as it hits my skin, it smells like roses, old ladies and pink-tiled bathrooms. Not this stuff. I found it, love it and I’m stickin’ with it. Especially because my husband digs it, too.

_______________________________________________________

6. Urban Decay 24/7 Glide on Eye Pencil

Another fave I ‘found’ through my daughter. She received this in a set last Christmas and wasn’t crazy about the color. So she gave it to me. I kept it in my makeup bag until I was desperately-out of my regular eyeliner and decided to give this a whirl. And doggoneit, she was right. It is the best eyeliner on the planet. This is way up there on my Christmas list, I’m almost out of mine and I must. get. more.

_______________________________________________________

7. Hollister Co. Sherpa-lined Hoodie

After admiring my daughter’s favorite hoodie for far too long, I asked for one for Christmas last year. And I actually got it. I wear it all the time, and if the arms weren’t so dadgum tight on me, I’d probably live in it. Evidently the grey fabric has more give so if I were to get it again, I’d go for the grey. And then I’d live in it.

P.S. This very hoodie is 1/2 price today. Just FYI.

Note to Hollister: some women do not have arms the size of toothpicks. Thank you.

8. Suzanne Myers Name Charm Necklace

Anyone who has been around here knows this is one of my very, very favorite things. I have mentioned it several times over the years, have given away several over the years, and still, it’s at the tippy-top of my love list. Wear it daily. Have sent it back to Suzanne to have name charms added onto it, and will again.

_______________________________________________________

9. Wild Olive Tees

Okay, so I make these, and I wear one every day. But I still love them. Like crazy. The shirts, the mission, and the fact that Wild Olive is putting His Word on the backs of women and children all over the world. It’s been just over 3 years since we started and God continues to bless Colleen, Amie and me on this crazy journey. Had we known then what we know now, we’d have been terrified. But we didn’t have a clue. Thank you, Lord.

_______________________________________________________

There you have it. My favorite things. I’d love to hear what some of y’alls are, too… so share! Don’t keep all those favorite things to yo’self!

Oh, I’m glad you did this! Just the other day I was remembering your post (or maybe it was posts) from Y.E.A.R.S. ago, where you compiled a list of things to buy different age groups for Christmas, and how much I LOVED it.

It’s always fun to get neat ideas from someone else. ๐Ÿ™‚

I LOVE my Burberry perfume too! It’s perfect- lots of perfumes give me a headache or smell like cheap roses, but Burberry is so classy and chic and light. And I can’t not mention this-my curiosity totally has me- you say you are adding more charms to your necklace? Anything we all should know? ๐Ÿ˜‰ LOVE your blog!!! xoxo Brooke

Glade Plug in’s around this time of the year:-)!! I love them all:) This Christmas I did the peppermint scent. I turn them WAYYYY down so it’s not overpowering, just a soft hint of peppermint in the air.
Last year I did the traditional Applie Cinnamon. Next year I hope they come out with a Cookie scented one:-)!

My Kenra shine spray for hair:-) I get so many compliments on my “Beautiful shiny hair”…I don’t share my secret it’s all from a can LOL ๐Ÿ™‚ My hair sadly wasn’t gifted with natural beauty ๐Ÿ™‚ Curling irons, Flat Irons, Blow Dryers, creams ,lotions and potions to make it look “naturally pretty:-) LOL ๐Ÿ™‚

And lastly, my bubble bath! Any scent really. Light the candles, fill the tub and let the day melt away ( and try not to fall asleep :-)!

I’m going to have to try that eyeliner btw, I have been in the market for a good one! ๐Ÿ™‚

I have a similar problem – many, many perfumes give me a headache, but sometimes they just smell like bug spray on me.May have to give Burberry a try. I love just about anything Bath & Body Works does in coconut lime verbena. Ahhhhhh! It instantly takes me to a warm, sunny relaxed place.

Oh how I love this post! Thank Victoria for me ~ I think she should guest post with some more great ideas!! ๐Ÿ™‚ I will be stopping by B&BW this weekend for some gloss and lotion! LOVE Joico products and where can I find those eyeliner pencils?!

I may need to track down that Burberry perfume, too. I am so sensitive to perfumey smells, so this sounds great. There is a Chanel one that I also love. And Philosophy’s Pure Grace. Summer Grace was nice, too.

How ’bout some toy ideas for the littles, next!! ๐Ÿ™‚

    Merry Christmas!! <

    love,
    Tanya

Bath and Body Work “Winter Candy Apple” is my all time favorite. I as well, keep one in my purse, car and on the vanity. I always get compliments on it. I’m so with you on the perfume. My mother could wear “CARD BOARD” eau du toilette and it would smell like HEAVEN on her!! I wish I had her body chemistry! I hadn’t found one that I truly love just yet. I may have to test the BURBERRY….something tells me it will probably smell like mulberries on me though!
